I have to agree with “johntkd”.

Also, if you’re not happy with his attitude toward his work and your place in his life NOW, don’t expect it to change after you get married. It is not uncommon for young men to get wrapped up in their jobs. As a woman, I did the same thing. Traditionally, men are the breadwinners. In order to be a good provider, they most often have to have a good job and be successful. That takes hard work, time and energy.

It sounds like you’re rather high maintenance. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but you will have to find a man who can meet your needs. You’re ex-boyfriend was not that man.

What you’re going through is natural. It’s a form of mourning. You have to understand that you have hurt him and he is angry. There’s not much chance that the two of you can be “friends”.
