Bishop Michael Campbell said it was a 'foundational issue' for the faith and there is 'no getting around it'
Catholics cannot claim to be true to their faith if they do not support Church teaching on abortion, a bishop has said.

Bishop Michael Campbell of Lancaster said abortion was a “foundational issue”, quoting Pope Francis who said: “We are called to defend and safeguard human life, especially in the mother’s womb, in infancy, old age and physical or mental disability.”

Some Catholic politicians say they oppose abortion, but do not believe it is appropriate to pass laws outlawing abortion.

Then they don’t appose abortion, and shame on them for it.

Science tells us that unborn babies from the moment of conception are individual human beings with their own lives, which the act of abortion directly targets for ending. This act is legal as long as the baby is inside the mother’s womb; but two minutes later would merit murder charges.

People face legal charges if they so much as disturb a nest of sea turtle eggs: liberals understand there that members of a species are being attacked, bit for human beings, they dither about personhood and mother’s bodily autonomy.

Thus we can see that abortion is not a religious issue, as people like to claim. The science is settled about what is happening in abortion. The party which once defended slavery is now defending the taking of innocent human lives.
