Episcopal Church banner about "equal" marriage!

Near my parish chuch in Milton, where I sing at Sunday Mass, is an Episcopal Church. In fact, it’s diagonally across the street from us. Some Sunday mornings, when I cross over to Church, I see a banner hanging outside the door saying “We Rejoice In Equal Marriage,” written over a Rainbow. This means that they allow “same-sex” marriages, or there is such a ceremony in progress at that moment. I can’t believe that the Episcopal Church would turn its back on the teaching of traditional marriage and buy into the lie about same-sex marriage. If my parish hung a banner like that, I would boycott that church and switch to another parish. Let’s face it; same-sex marriage is one of our 5 non-negotiable issues. We should rejoice in traditional marriage-between one man and one woman.

Remember, God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.
 
That’s one reason why we Catholics are Catholic and not Episcopalian, right?!

That is what happens when doctrines are determined by a vote.
 
Reorient the priesthood to change Sacred Scripture.

Blessing ceremonies are blasphemous and heretical against Sacred Scripture. As are their actions to make holy the sexual act of sodomy and the coupling of noncelibate same sex attracted persons.

Why is this so shocking? They turned their collective backs on the entire Church and Her fullness of Truth!!! It is just to be expected that they will start to dismantle the family.

This does not surprise me in the least. As sad as it might be.

Actually some good has come out of it. Thousands and thousands of Episcopalians are returning to the One True Church.
 
Fatal Mistake numero uno: Being shocked at ANY bizarre innovation or liberal left-field beliefs of the Episcopal Church.
 
A poll (can’t remember by who, it was on NPR radio) found that the majority of white catholics supported same sex marraiges, which I found surprising. It did say that a majority of those who were polled also said they did not attend church regularly.

While the poll may or may not accurately reflect white catholic opininion, the fact is that there are many “cultural” catholics, who sef-identify as “catholic”, but don’t really let church teaching get in the way of their thinking or behavior. Fortunately, Catholic doctrine isn’t up for a vote.

Thnakfully the Church does not change it’s doctrine by popular vote. This above poll says more about the truth of the CHruch than it does about the beliefs of it’s adherents.

Shoot, Eutychus, they already went down that slope in the 70’s, In the 80’s they crashed into an embankment. In the 90’s the car exploded, and in the new millenium the TEC mushroomclouded the remains

Yes there is that bright side. Speaking for myself as an Anglican, this craziness was perhaps the straw that convinced my wife and I to run like crazy and not look back. The Episcopal Church has been going zonkers for years but I was in denial with their beautiful liturgies and music. We are not Roman Catholics but who knows what might happen with time.

Realize this trend in not limited to Episcopalians. The ELCA just recently gave legitimacy to non-celibate ministers. Presbyterians have had some very close votes. Most disturbingly, majorities of “Catholics” seem to be just fine with this even though Rome wouldn’t or couldn’t ever allow it. The whole idea of a much smaller but truer Church sounds very appealing to me but wonder if it will ever happen.

I know exactly what you went through. My wife converted to the Catholic Church from the Episcopal Church about 10 years ago. She was born and raised in Wales and it was tough for her to leave the church of her childhood but like you she could not handle the direction it was going

I assume you are in Milton, Florida. If so, how is Fr. Schumm doing?

Once a ship loses it’s rudder, it can’t avoid the rocks of destruction. TEC has floundered on the rocks. Why are you or anyone shocked by what the Episcopal and in too many ways the Anglican Church does anymore? I remember with an Anglican news/website had a section called “what fresh hell is this” to document the antics of us Anglicans. The author could not keep up with the speed of the abandonment of the faith that is occuring in most parts of Anglicanism. It is sad really to watch a section of the faith cut off the vine and allowed to wither and die.

Now it is off to fill out the paperwork from the office of the Delegate for the Holy See for entry into the Church. December 5th is my last Anglican Mass. Will be making my profession, confession and confirmation into the Church either that night or the next day.
My replacement priest will be on deck then and my parish will not be without a shepard.

Fr. Mark,

You have my thoughts and prayers. I have the most admiration for your decision. I personally can’t make the same leap of faith at this time after making the decision to leave TEC almost 2 years ago. We are in the process of calling a pastor who has been trained in growing God’s Kingdom on earth. I think if we concentrate on what we all have in common, in the end we strive for the same goals in bringing together the folks in an understanding of the truth of the Christian faith.

Very true! In fact my sponsor (who was received into the church Easter 2009) is an Episcopalian convert! Praise God that many do see the error of their ways.
