:yup: does seem that way…I am not sure exactly when he started. I was a girl…so I guess that was a long time ago

:nope: He is a young 'un

:gopray2: pray for peace

You’re right - he’s been there since 1979… and he still has a almost two years ‘to go’… I just thought that he would have found his way back to the straight path and narrow gate by now (wishful thinking).

So this is what it comes to…

I am not so sure that the Catholic Church would be the right place for these people even if they were in the confines of a strong orthodox Catholic Diocese. After all they don’t seem to have any issues with priestesses or bishopettes.
Well … it was in the case of my priest.

He brought his family, another priests family, and 40 other families with him to the Catholic Church a few years ago … for the exact same reason.

As we think the keys to the kingdom are held by papa, they think the keys are held by the college of bishops.

At an annual, the Episcopal Bishops were faced with the topic of ordaining women. It was decided that the matter will be studied and discussed further next year. Problem was, a couple of bishop went ahead and started ordaining women.

There were other topics where the same thing happened. The topic was still in the ‘research’ stage and, yet, some bishops decided to do what they felt was okay.

My priest, as with all of these families, had only one issue with the Catholic church … the Pope.

These instances in the Episcopal Church was proof for them that there need to be only one person with the authority. Only one can have the ‘authority’, the ‘keys to the kingdom’.

It was a three year journey for those families … not the regular one season of RCIA.

My priest had to ask the pope to excuse him the rule of celibacy. It took three years, but it happened. I love the guy.

It is an incredible story.

For this Episcopal parish, maybe this is a good time to find out what beliefs of theirs are and are not in line with the Catholic Church.

Cazayoux,
You mean well but as you can see it is too late for this particular group. Besides…our Rochester, NY Bishop would never have had the strength within him to lead this small flock…well definately with the Grace of God…but it just did not happen. Bishop Clark’s head and heart are elsewhere.

…so this fight comes to an end…just 10 months later…
The congregation, now known as All Saints Anglican Church, had refused to hand over the keys to the building in November and continued to meet there. The conflict started when All Saints refused to pay the $16,000 apportionment. Apportionments are required from each of the Rochester diocese’s 52 congregations. But All Saints withheld the money because it believed the diocese and the Episcopal Church of the USA should have given individual dioceses the right to decide whether to bless same-sex unions.
(September 20, 2006) — IRONDEQUOIT — A state judge has ordered All Saints Anglican Church in Irondequoit to turn over the property and records of the former All Saints Protestant Episcopal Church to the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester.

This fight is bigger than this particular parish. Seven Episcopal dioceses have sought alternative episcopal oversight from the Archbishop of Canterbury instead of the newly elected Presiding Bishop…Ms. Schori. In general, the dioceses oppose the ordination of women and, when a woman was elected Presiding Bishop (read Archbishop), it placed those Diocesian Bishops in a precarious position. They also oppose the ordination of the Bishop of New Hampshire, Vickie Eugene Robinson, in 2003. Robinson is a practicing homosexual who has divorced his wife and is living with his “partner”. All of this, of course, was known by the New Hampshire Diocese and the Episcopal Church PRIOR to his ordination as Bishop. The Episcopal Church is falling apart at the seams, many people (myself included) have left the communion, in some instances entire parishes have left and realigned with other Anglican groupings that are more conservative. In most cases, those parishes have left behind their churches (often with graveyards holding the bones of their faithful parents and grandparents) because the Episcopal hiearchy will not let them go with their property. It is a huge mess that will probably result in the realignment of the Episcopal Church into conservative and liberal branches…eventually.

It is an education watching this one particular local story (for me) unfold.
