EXACTLY.I’m not defending anything. I’m saying that we have heard one side of the story in a highly politically charged environment, 200ft from the White House (basically the most political city in the US) when many parties have reason to use the facts towards their own predetermined ends. If one is seeking the truth, immediately listening to partisan sources as the absolute truth, without considering the facts from both sides, is not the most responsible approach.
I’m reading both sides and sure enough the other side is tis: Fires, Looting, Tear Gas: DC in Turmoil Following 3rd Night of Protests – NBC4 Washington
Burning, vandalism, fires in government buildings and the historic church, windows smashed.
This is not ‘peaceful protest.’
I have no idea if those pushed back or tear-gassed (or whatever the police did) were genuinely peaceful or not but after three nights of violence and destruction, a reasonable person has cause to think it might happen again.
One other thing I came across was the comment that President Trump may not have had anything to do with the police’s decision on how to make the area safe.
