Eucharist becomes real flesh and blood, a miracle

I don’t mean to have a weak stomach yet had this happened with me, I would probably have a heart attack—I love my Lord Jesus and my faith yet am feeling a little queasy over the possibility of this happening with me–couldn’t bear the thought.:highprayer::gopray2:

Be assured that Jesus knows our sensitives, but every so often he lets us know that the Eucharist is his real presence to us.
 
Technically, isn’t the Eucharist only really our Lord Jesus Christ under the accidents of bread and wine? If it becomes real flesh or real blood, it has literally lost the accidental qualities that make it the absolutely-defined Body and Blood of God. :confused:
 
I read the links and was touched by what I’ve read. I understand now why this has happened–and the miracles resulting from this first miracle–wow! Jesus’ heart muscle and AB blood type-wow!! Very amazing and touching 🙂 👍
 
We don’t munch on Christ’s big toe or drink His Type AB blood. In the Eucharist, we receive the real, true, actual substance of His Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, under the appearances (accidents) of bread and wine. Substance is what a thing is in itself; it’s essence; its reality. The substance of the bread and wine change, with the words of consecration, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Looks like bread, tastes like wine, but they become His Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. Eucharistic miracles confirm the reality of that change – transubstantiation.

Jim, yes we receive the substance and not the accidents, but the difference in this miracle is that the accidents changed too 🙂 of course this doesn’t happen when we receive the Eucharist maybe because no one would be able to receive then 🙂

Amen and amen to that-God knows what is in our best interest and perhaps allow the change to take place without losing the appearance of bread and wine due to allow us to take part in the Holy Eucharist. I wonder one thing, though-when Jesus at the Last Supper with His disciples-when he put in place the first communion-when He blessed the bread and wine-did it change, too? Just a thought…:cool:👍
 
Yes it did, Jesus is Almighty. It means, he can do all things. He wanted to give his disciples himself, before he endured crucifixion. The eucharist would strengthen the faith of the disciples, even though they did fell. 🙂

I am so glad you are very enthusiastic about the eucharist. Many catholics have lost faith in the eucharist, at least in my country, they treat the eucharist as a dead object and do not venerate Jesus in the blessed sacrament. Even talked in church:confused:

The best way to prepare ourselves before receiving the eucharist is confession. We want to be holy before receiving God Most Holy. If we receive him in a state of mortal sin, we insult him, and commit a sin called sacrilege.

actually my faith in the Eucharist is thriving and should I ever feel it flagging all I would need to do is ask Jesus, when I am receiving, and he will bolster my faith in and through is Presence. I do not need physical appearances to believe because I have his promise.

you believe, Thomas, because you have seen. Blessed are those who have not seen yet still believe, says the Lord

when such miracles occur they are a gift from God for the eddification of those present as he graciously meets their needs in that time and place.

Eucharistic Miracles are not to be consumed, but to be adored.

“How this ‘And he was carried in his own hands’] should be understood literally of David, we cannot discover; but we can discover how it is meant of Christ. I think you are a little confusing here. Of course we receive the accidents. We taste a bread-taste, the Host is crisp like bread, we taste and smell the wine-taste and smell.

How can we not receive the accidents?
 
Just have faith:) Do not be confused.

The small host you are receiving is Jesus himself, body, blood, soul, and divinity.

Certainly It is,.

But only the substance is changed by transubstantiation. You seem to be implying that the accidents are changed into Our Lord as well.

This is not Church teaching.
 
It is not me who said it…

The eucharistic miracles is not my doing, it’s the Lord’s, and it is approved by the church

For me, it’s just faith, without explanations. The Eucharist is Jesus. 🙂
