Eucharistic Adoration Flash Mob In Public Square

Courageous and that is where we belong -in the centre of the public square.Better the Eucharist than anarchism and perversion.
 
This was SO beautiful! Very moving and inspirational. So needed and appreciated. Makes me wish I had been present. All the participants there were truly in a cathedral. I can’t imagine that anyone left untouched by the Lord’s appearance.
 
I saw this in a Catholic blog last Friday. I too found it very moving. The reactions and faces of the people observing is remarkable by itself. I hope this video goes viral.
 
The Capuchin Franciscans are devoted to bringing Christ to the world. In a nearby city (about 40 miles from us) they have rented space in a shopping mall and erected a chapel. They have a soundproof room manned by a priest from 10 am to 8 pm, Monday thru Saturday. They will hear confessions during this time and give counseling to anyone who asks and/or spiritual direction. They also celebrate two Masses each day, one at noon and another at 6 pm. We went to the noon Mass and it was filled to capacity.

I understand the irreverance the Eucharist may possibly be subjected to on a street corner, but whether one believes or not, the power of the Real Presence cannot be denied. Those Catholics who kneeled were evangelizing in a silent manner. How sorry I feel for those who were completely ignorant of the fact that they were in the presence of their KING!
 
How better to evangelize than with Jesus HIMSELF. Really quite beautiful.
 
Very moving and very inspiring. I especially liked the end where the Franciscan brother was saying how “Herod couldn’t kill him…” etc. It shows how throughout all the ages of the world, Christ remains, and no one was able to kill, destroy, weaken, or lessen His credibility. Still, it seems regretful that more people didn’t stop for just a few minutes to let Christ into their lives that day. :gopray:

People flock to celebrities like bees to the honey. If Miley Cyrus or Christina Agulera had appeared in Times Square, they would be inundated with people, begging to be near their celebrity. If this is the response they receive, how much MORE should people flock and worship their Lord and Savior, who DIED for their sins and opened for them the gates of eternal life! How many celebrities do you know would die for their fans? None, that’s for sure.
 
Personally I hate flash mobs, a public nuisance in my eyes.

Me too. There were two recent incidents where a flash mob went into a Sears store in Upper DArby, PA, and another in Chicago on Michigan Ave into another store and stole a great deal of merchandise at random.

I’d outlaw all flash mob events as there is no way for the police to be able to control the mob if it were bent on such crimes.

It reminds me of when I worked in San Francisco. There was a tiny bookstore run by nuns (I forget the order, but it is one with a published apostolate). At the back of the bookstore was a tiny handwritten sign with “chapel, welcome” or some such written on it. Inside was a teeny, rather simple chapel with the host. It was so unexpected, and though I frequented the Cathedral and many, many churches in the City during my lunch, this was one of my favorite places to duck into and visit with our Lord.

Now we live in the country - very rural and poor - and the few churches are locked tight except for Mass. One church has a one hour holy hour once a month, but it is often locked, too, for this or that reason. I miss adoration dearly.

To be fair those aren’t real flash mobs, that’s just an organized crime spree and I wish the press would just start calling them what they are.
 
I loved this. Hearing all these amazing aspects of Jesus from the all the books of the Bible moved me to tears.
 
DH was just explaining to me what flash mob is. who knew

we used to call them sit-ins and demonstrations, but we were about peace and love not war

I think 40 days for life should change our tactics somewhat and consider this approach

Given the portrayal of many secularized Flash Mobs seen on the Internet and Media I understand your point.

But really if one takes away the electronic techno wave of glorified media and if you bring yourself back 2000 plus years ago to the time of Jesus preaching in the crowds, you could call those crowds Flash Mobs in today’s idiom.

Given the gravity of what was depicted in this public Eucharistic Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament perhaps only a handful of 20-30 people took time to recognize Jesus in the crowds.

Had Jesus made an actual physical appearance in an crowd around the world today;
virtually nobody would recognize Him any more than when He came the first time.

This is a good observation. In centuries past, “spontaneous” public gatherings, and open air preaching whether religious or secular was not at all uncommon.

I found it interesting that the monk read the words from a Protestant contemporary song titled “He Is”…sang by Aaron Jeffery a father/son duo.youtube.com/watch?v=ttS7FH8X4n4…I was interested to see if the monk included the DC/Apoc books…he did.🙂

And…perhaps Protestants who know that song will now see the connection between that song and the reality of the risen Lord before them in the Eucharist.

Further, many Jews will noticed the connection between the OT books with the Lord that is right there in the Eucharist. For Jesus was the God in the OT just as He is God in the NT and just as He is God always and forevermore.

Many will see this simple act of faith just because the internet exists! Praise God for that!

THAT is precisely what the world needs.

MORE JESUS–NOT LESS.
 
This was a topic on Relevant Radio yesterday. The guest IMO was overly critical in tone, but made a good point that it simply isn’t right to walk down the street with the Body of Christ stuffed in a duffel bag so you can pop him on the world for a show.

The actual work itself was very cool, but the critic made a good point that the prelude and closing needs work so as to avoid disrespect to the Host.
