The actual work itself was very cool, but the critic made a good point that the prelude and closing needs work so as to avoid disrespect to the Host.

I respectfully disagree.
Jesus was born in a stable and died nailed to a cross. He knows what is and is not disrespect.

In the Eucharist He resides for much of the time inside a small box that is called teh tabernacle.
When Eucharistic ministers take the Host to shut-ins etc. they carry it in a small brass case that is kept in a small leather pouch around their neck (at least the EM who brings ours carries it that way and I’ve seen others do it as well)

If transport in a tiny brass case inside a small leather pouch is not disrespectful then what could be disrespectful about a larger case (monstrance) in a larder leather pouch (duffel)?

I really like the idea of it but would like more respect being paid to the body and blood than pulling him out of the bag like a piece of gym equipement.

Perhaps they could do a prayer, carry the host in a pyx of some sort, then when the prayer is done fix the host into the monstrance.

The other problem is that I don’t think that most non-Catholics would have any idea what the Monstrances really is or what that liitle disc in the middle is. So, perhaps a prayer that explains what it is that is being placed in the monstrance would be helpful.

I do love the idea of bringing the body and blood to the public, but maybe they need to fine tune it a bit.

I plan to cut and paste, replace the "He"s with "You"s and keep it with me for praying the next time I have a few moments alone with the Lord in adoration. We have so few opportunities where we live, but now I really can’t wait to have the opportunity.

I dislike the idea someone had to transfer the host from the pyx to the monstrance out in the dirty street like that. It did seem strange to stuff the monstrance back in the duffel bag, but it was handled reverently.

That’s the whole point…it was handled reverently with the greatest respect.

No abomination took place. Seems that many are criticizing the duffel bag more than their praising the actual Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament of our Lord.

In the aftermath of what took place, I’ve seen nothing to suggest a reprimand from superiors from anyone in the Church hierarchy which would have been posted in the media by now, given the fact this video has circulated around the globe.

I agree. Not only that, but we will never know the tremendous (and hidden) affects this encounter may have had on fallen away Catholics, or even non-believers alike who suddenly were graced by such a Presence.
