Apparently, over Corpus Christi weekend, there had been a
desecration of the Blessed Sacrament. A host was found with a
bite taken out of it stuffed between the pages of a hymnal. Fr.
Hedges removed the consecrated host, placed it in a container
with some water in it to dissolve it and then dispose of it
correctly. The following morning, when he went to open the
tabernacle, he found that the host placed therein was bleeding
(this is not the same host that was desecrated, but the one kept
in reserve). www.athanasiuscm.blogspot.com/2010/07/eucharistic-miracle-in-michigan-parish.html

OK. What is the update on this event? What has the bishop said?

Does the church classify this as an ‘official’ miracle? If it is, that’s pretty awesome, and a little scary. Would it be wrong to pray for the person who desicrated the Host? I mean, Scripturally speaking, that sort of thing can result in death.

I am skeptical because similar stories about similar alleged Eucharistic miracles have been popping up on the web, ascribed to churches all over the place including Rome, since last Christmas, a couple even got blurbs here. They all claim to know a guy who knows a guy who belongs to the parish where this happened, but never give any eye witnesses, only what are either very muggy pictures that could be anything or even computer enhanced.

I will wait for the concerned bishops to publish authentic news of such events before hyperventilating, thank you, and be content with the genuine miracle occuring on the altar at my parish every day.

we do need a Catholic snopes.com that’s for sure.

Clarity and common sense. Thanks annie. I too will wait for an authority to speak. I matters like this, I distrust the internet as a source of truth.

the average internet blog is one step above the NYT for journalistic integrity and reliability

unfortunately God doesn’t have a website, just a prayer site.

I year ago I visited two Churches in Europe where there had been eucharistic miracles (recognized by the Church). It would be exciting if there was one here, the first in fact in the Americas. However, I am skeptical about such a claim without evidence, which comes from a unknown person’s report. However, with such publicity, I expect to hear more about this from the parish or diocese and to hear if this report is reliable or not. So I will simply wait and see.

Hooray! I agree. I am tired of sensationalism Catholicism; this means there are Catholics who are always looking for signs, wonders, apparitions and the like.

no sorry if post is misleading, thats not my blog
