Why doesn’t the Vatican put all issues to rest and run a comprehensive DNA test of all the Eucharistic miracles going back as far as we have them? I know they did blood type but multiple people have the same blood type. Why not put all the rumors to rest? Also help people with belief?

Thanks for anyone who takes the time to read and respond I greatly appreciate it!

An atheist friend proposed this as one of the biggest refutation if Eucharistic miracles saying the only reason it hasn’t been done is the Vatican made these miracles. It’s utterly asinine in my opinion but to be honest I don’t how to refute these claims.

I would wager heavily on the likelihood that your friend would not be satisfied with that evidence either. Miracles can always be explained away by some means. Every single one. Your friend doesn’t believe because, at the moment, anyways, he does not want to believe.

There was one interesting Eucharistic Miracles where the host that bled was examined and it was found to be heart muscle. Is that really not enough??

I mean it is but it just is tough to argue because if they have the means to disprove people who argue the counter point why can’t they just once and for all have it done?

True but when I try to argue that with him (it’s an ongoing argument over a text thread,) he says that’s the easy way out. I said if they tested it definitively and the DNA was the same it could eliminate free will since people would be forced to believe. He counter argues against that though saying the DNA likely wouldn’t match and that’s why they wouldn’t release it. The blood type can be shared among multiple people but dna can’t.

Then he would say the DNA test was faked, or some such thing.

True but for some people it would really help! I mean if God wanted to provide us the proof in a Eucharistic miracle why can’t we just confirm it? Also the Vatican could then use the results to confirm or deny other instances that occur?

By the way I really appreciate the time you’ve spent on my random million questions.

Don’t think it would really help. There are so many miracles already out there. Maybe you should make a topic of that question asking for a list or something.

Fatima apparitions are a big miracles. (But maybe your friend wants just miracles concerning the Eucharist.)

You are very welcome.

Yeah that was kind of an isolated argument on that topic specifically.

Don’t know how accurate this is, but I saw this video. If true, then it just confirms the Divinity of Jesus.

When they were tested, I do not think DNA testing yet existed.

The thing about Eucharistic miracles is that they are holy, you see. The Eucharist in general is nothing to treat as merely a lab sample, so it is much ado to get it tested. But yet we still sometimes do do such.

But, I’m not sure if DNA testing can be done? I’m not sure how well preserved the DNA has to be and how fresh it has to be.

Thank you. Its tricky! I hate I am surrounded by atheists now which makes it really tough for me as I am sure you have seen. I am blown away with how absolutely hospitable and caring everyone has been in helping me through every question! God bless.

A Wafer becomes a peace of flesh and people ask for more proof?
Doesn’t sound too rational…
If someone truly believes in the Eucharist miracles they don’t need a blood test, if they don’t they won’t be conviced by it.

He’s talking about the blood he took to the lab but doesn’t say where he got the sample. Or did I miss that part?

I mean I understand that argument it’s not an easy one to accept or support however because by the same token I could ask why there haven’t been any miracles filmed while occurring or why even have miracles at all. I understand God gives them freely as gifts but would he really be upset if we sequenced it? Wouldn’t it be at least one more step towards proof? You could say by current DNA techniques the dna matches and it may save even one more soul? I get that for skeptics though there’s always another requirement of proof but as Catholics we are called to approach through faith and reason. After all the church made science what it is today! Doesn’t that mean we can use those tools to grow our faith?

Indeed, why? Is that the school you go to? You don’t have friends that share your interests and values? I know they can be hard to find nowadays. Can’t say I had such. Pray for your acquaintances, I suppose. It may take time to show itself, but prayer can do wonders.

No I’m currently between jobs and recovering from some medical issues so I have only the friends I have had for years and having come from a heavily atheistic background and converting I can’t say many are supportive.
