European Bishops Speak Out Against EU’s ‘Homophobia’ Resolution

STRASBOURG, January 20, 2006 (LifeSiteNew.com) – The secretary-general of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences said the EU has overstepped its role in urging all states to stamp out “homophobia” and enshrine homosexual ‘rights’ through legislation, in an interview on Radio Vatican.

The EU’s adoption of the resolution showed “an aversion for certain values of our tradition, notably religious values,” said Aldo Giordano.

The European Union has not condemned Homophobia in this instance. The European Parliament has voted in favour of a resolution. The important thing to note is that the Parliament has absolutely no executive power whatsoever.

In fact the resolution calls upon the European Commission, who actually wield power within the EU structure, to come up with a proposal about “civil unions”

This anti-Homophobia stuff is aimed directly at the Heart of the Catholic Church and other traditional minded Christian groups.
Christians in Canada are already being arrested for so-called “hate speech” under such laws, and you can bet your bottom dollar it will soon be happening in Europe unless the people rise up and drive the liberal Left from power.
And tho I don’t venerate the Republican party, if the Democrats win control of all major branches of government (President, House, and Senate), such evil laws WILL be enacted by them here in the United States and arrests of Christians will follow here too. There is no one as intolerant of the Truth as a liberal politician.

It’s interesting that people aren’t being arrested for speaking out against minorities or women in the US. Liberals care dearly for those groups, yet we can say whatever we want about women, blacks, latinos, etc. When liberals controlled the government there were no arrests.

European countries that do not recognize same-sex unions have been condemned as “homophobic” by a resolution of the European Parliament. The nonbinding resolution passed Thursday by a vote of 468-149. There were 41 abstentions. Mario Mauro, vice president of the European Parliament, said in statements to ZENIT that “an ideological document has been approved that has very little to do with the concrete protection of people’s fundamental rights.”

Mauro said that the document, which refers to religious freedom as a “source of discrimination,” is “in open contradiction with treaties and even common sense.” Riccardo Cascioli, president of the European Center of Studies on Population, Environment and Development, told ZENIT that “**for the umpteenth time, a European institution pronounces itself on a topic – such as the family – which is the strict domain of each of the member states.” **

“It is obvious,” Cascioli said, “that human rights have become a pretext to affirm an ideology that not only has nothing to do with the good of the person, but that is even a source of violence against individuals, communities and peoples.”

My readings suggest that the answer is quite a few.

Laws pertaining to employment are being enforced. They entail no arrests, and are civil matters. However, we are free to say whatever we want in non-employment settings. Watch this:

Blacks are dorks.
Women are dorks.
Men are dorks.
Whites are dorks.
Latinos are dorks.
Gays are dorks.
Catholics are dorks.
Heterosexuals are dorks.
Jews are dorks.
Ted Kennedy is a dork.
 
I agree especially with the statement about Ted Kennedy.

Ortho, you’re being quite naive about the intentions of the “gay” rights movement. They intend to have enacted laws which ban hate speech as THEY define hate speech, which includes scriptural condemnations of homosexual behavior. This is already enacted in Canada, and there have been numerous arrests of Christians. It has also happened here, in Philadelphia, last year when Christians counterprotested a gay pride event. The Christians were arrested and charged with hate crimes.
Only a massive letter writing and phone campaign got them released.

Is this a serious question? Wouldn’t you fight if the gov’t decided to round up Christians? I’d rather die free & fighting than to die a slave.

Think about what happened to the Jews during WWII. You know what the NAZI party was right? They were the National Socialist political party. Hmm…who in this country does that describe…who are the ‘National Socialists’ in the US…? The Democrats perhaps? When they manage to take hold of this country again (Heaven Forbid!) they will push their pro-gay anti-Christian agenda down our throats as fast as they can.

I realize that some Jews did indeed fight against the German forces, but by the time they organized their resistance the government had already managed to disarm the population through gun control legislation. The sheeple turned in their guns and believed that the gov’t would protect them. They murdered them instead.

Just think about that for a while…who wants to disarm the citizens in the US? Which political party pushes a socialist anti-Christian agenda? And you wonder why some of us fight against the gun control people tooth & nail. Becaus history has shown that when the government disarms the people, the gov’t persecutes the people…particularly socialist governments.

This has nothing to do with Canada. Incidentally the organisation Repent America believes that Catholics will burn in hell.

                It is my prayer that the Catholic people would come to the                      saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
