I was most likely going to wait till it came out on DVD. Thanks to this thread we’re going to have to try and see it in the theater.

This movie is offenisve. Extremely offensive. The movie is offensive because it assumes the entire audience is made up of idiots.

Some highlights (lowlights really):…

A bunch of supernatural stuff keeps happening to Evan which dozens of people witness but he still remains an object of ridicule. This really is one of the most glaring problems with the movie. His beard magically grows back instantly every time he cuts it off. His wife and coworkers know this yet are not amazed and worry about his mental health. Exotic animals show up from all over the world. He builds a huge ark with primitive equipment and with the aid of the animals themselves. Yet everyone, including hs wife, still thinks he’s crazy. No one even shows any surprise about seeing actual miracles right in front of them. No one wonders where the animals are all coming from or why they obey Evan or they can build a boat. All they do is keep mocking Evan. It makes no sense whatsoever. (Keep in mind this movie is not played as a farce which is really the only way this could work.)

This is just some of dumb stuff that happens. And on top of all this the movie is not funny.

I just saw the movie last night and thought it was overall very good and positive for the type of film it was, a family comedy with a message. I agree with the “pro” side of this thread. i think it was enough about God to get people thinking in the right path.

As far as everyone not believing him despite the signs, doesn’t that happen even in the Bible? Look at all signs Jesus performed and still some did not believe. And in today’s world some people are more skeptical and look for “rational” explanations for things.
So I don’t think that was a big problem with the plot.

Is anyone planning on seeing this? Its the sequel to Bruce Almighty where God has Evan build an ark because Evan prayed that God would help him change the world and he actually ends up growing beard and the animals follow him and all. I saw that on the previews. What do you all think? I thought it looked pretty good from the previews and its only rated PG I think.

I’ve seen it and loved it. I don’t want to give the story away, but basically Evan was considered crazy for talking to God and doing what God wanted him to do. In fact, even when his own family begins to doubt his sanity, he knows he must follow God’s wishes. I actually liked this one better than Bruce Almighty.

I just came home from seeing Evan Almighty…and I heartily endorse it. It was pure and simple and funny. Take the family for this one. How often do you get to do that?!
