An Evangelical did this, and said at least in Evangelical pedophilia pastors, it is usually heterosexual. I got angry, and here is what I said:

you open up a discussion of a topic that in the end, you do not fully understand.

let us start with this: is marriage to be driven according to the fallen nature, or according to love? do you believe we actually possess the love of God in us, or is it merely imputed?

For you may say, it is better to marry than to burn. You do not understand what you read. This refers to those who are tempted to fornication. Those tempted to fornication should then rather marry than burn. but then, in general, these are not called to the priesthood.

do you believe that all burn?

do you believe in the power of Christ’s Redemption to make a man pure by the INFUSION of grace? So then, is there literal marriage in the Resurrection? If not, how do you say, it is contrary to Christ that certain persons should be called to forsake the relations of this world for those of the spiritual order with God that shall never end?

but, alas, heretics twist the Scriptures, and necessarily confound the understanding of human sexuality precisely on account of their spiriutal contraception, which is also a contraception against the sacramentality of the creation.

For hence, do the heretics take earthly marriage as an end unto itself, like the pharisees of old. For the Pharisees of old knew not what they were disputing, just as you, a heretic, do not understand celibacy, and therefore attack it.

For in the resurrection, they neither marry nor are given in marriage. And does not the Apostle you think teaches Protestantism also discuss that the married man who serves God also has, as it were, as though two wives? so then one shall suffer. The Church can make exceptions, but in general, the Western Rite has the Wisdom: The man who serves God has more than a full time job already. A wife and kids? In general, if the kids are grown, it is better. but a full family and a spiritual spouse and children much more numerous?

but so then, the celibate and virgins of the Church (who authentically practice this virtue) are already shewing the faithful a taste of what shall be, for in the resurrection, they neither marry nor are given in marriage. In the resurrection, we shall all be the spouse of Christ.

Perhaps it is true that the pedophilia of the Catholic Church is worse in the sense of a greater concentration of the homosexual version.

but i shall assure you this is in no wise due to the general rule of celibacy, but rather with the serious dissent and rejection of authentic Church teaching on human sexuality.

the rejection of the Church’s discipline of celibacy, combined with a rejection of her life and sexual teachings is the supreme cause that gives birth to collapse of the family, divorce, marital infidelity, masturbation, fornication, abortion, and homosexuality.

Far from being caused by Catholic teaching on human sexuality, the homosexual pedophile crisis in the Catholic Church is precisely because the priests in seminary have been lied to, as has the world in regard to the preciousness of human sexuality.

For artificial birth control, which the heretics embraced almost full circle beginning in 1930, is the precise root of what is now the collapse of morality, that has degraded to the point of homosexuality.

Evangelicals who curse celibacy are themselves bllind to the serious depravities of their own religion.

You want to end this world’s embrace of fornication and abortion? END ARTIFICIAL BIRTH CONTROL!!!

Otherwise forget it.

You ever come to realize this, and accept the truth, you will be seriously disturbed that only Rome has maintained fidelity to the ancient Christian tradition against ABC. How did they know, and the rest of Christendom not?

Because Peter is the Rock. The Orthodox have the earth, the heretics, the shore and sea.

You could have simply asked him to explain why, if that is true, why the vast, vast majority of pedophiles haven’t taken a vow of celibacy.

As far as the heterosexual vs homosexual comment, ask him if he would feel better if his son/daughter was molested by a heterosexual man/woman versus a homosexual man/woman.

Peace

Isn’t disbelief in celibacy a big part of the reason for the Reformation in the first place?
They think everyone is meant to be married. How that used to upset me.
Yet most pedophiles are married and most celibate people aren’t pedophiles. So obviously celibacy isn’t what “causes” pedophilia. How could it, anyway?

He should also explain that there was not a pediophile crisis in the Church. 92% of the molestations were homosexul rape of post pubscent boys. The problem was not celibacy-the problem was not screening out homosexuals from the Priesthood.

I’d send him on over to www.reformation.com and www.stopbaptistpredators.org. By his logic, since Protestant pastors can marry, there should be NO sexual scandals within Protestant churches. Since that is obviously not the case (as evidenced on those two websites) it can’t be celibacy that’s the problem.

(Sin is the problem, btw. Sin and society, because society sends a very strong message that “if it feels good, you should just do it. Consequences – what consequences?”)

Oh yeah that annoys me, being told by evangelicals I should be looking for a wife (I’m 22) because they all get married as soon as they have their first serious relationship after about 6-18 months quite simply because they want sex

I get that feeling from Catholics too sadly.

I know several women that were sexually abused by their evangelicals preacher dads.

Most sexual abusers abuse children in their homes not churches or schools. Clery with family are more likely to abuse children.
Their own children than childless celibate clergy.
The truth is that are slighty more pedos among protestant married clergy that among celibate catholic clergy and there are more, much more pedos among non clergy that among clergy when taken proportionally.
There is even a study on that.
The only thing Catholic Celibacy have done if give them a more homosexual favor. In fact Celibacy might have undercut hetereosexual child abuse that is the most common form of child abuse. 😦

Or was it that the vows made simply were not kept…gay or straight priests can break their vows…it has nothing to do with homosexuality…it has to do with keeping ones priestly vows.

It also has to do with when an infraction was made, the priest was moved else where with little or no disipline taken or means to remove the offending priest from commiting a crime against a child again.

It has everything to do with homosexuality-homosexul rape is only done by homosexuals.

Both Estesbob and Publisher are correct. There were homosexual priests and still are who keep their vows. Further, only homosexual priests can break those vows with another male.

It is a which came first argument.

Had there been no gay priests, there would be stories of heterosexual violation of the vows, though not as headline grabbing.

Agreed. I find it interesting that so many Catholics will almost do “gyrations” to draw attention to the fact that it wasn’t “pedophilie” priests but homosexual priests with post pubescent boys…I’m not sure the boys who were molested would draw such a distinction…nor the fact no disipline or expulsion was done to keep these priests who broke their vows away from other post-pubescent boys over the years.

I am not anti-Catholic on this subject…the rate of abuse among clergy in all denominations is pretty constant. In a Protestant church, usually they are removed from their post and charges filed for such actions. What tends to rile people up is that there seems to be a tendency to “sweep it under the rug” and simply cry “homosexual” instead of dealing with the issue that no disiplineary actions was taken in an expeditious manner…simply moved to another location and…“forgotten”.

Any man who abuses a child…pre or post pubescent, male or female, need to have criminal action taken against him and remove him from doing so again…nothing more…but it seems that using gay men as a scapegoat is better PR…however if the priests involved would have simply kept their vows…the “scandal” would have not happened…

Well I’ve heard alot about various Protestants claiming that it is because the Roman part of the Catholic Church only selects those willing to remain unmarried to be priests which is why there are pedophile priests…
If someone is not attracted to women then they are more likely than those who are to remain unmarried. Therefore if you are looking into a part of the population who are men who have chosen to refrain from marriage you will come across a larger ratio of pedophile vs. non-pedophile so in a small way this may make a little sense; however, from the comments I have heard from Protestants is that they think that the very fact that a man has remained unmarried (celibate) turns him into a pedophile…this is just plain silly.

As I explained to one Protestant woman years ago when the Pedophile Priests scandle came to light,
Your husband likes women not men right and so he chose to marry you? Yes.
Okay, so if something terrible were to happen to you and you were no longer able to have relations with him, would he then suddenly be attracted to little boys? NO!
Okay, so it is the same with a priest, unless he already had the tendency of pedophila attraction, the mere fact of him being celibate would not turn him into one. To be frank, even if he did have the tendency to like young boys, that does not mean he absolutely will sin in that manner, but it does certainly increase the risk.

Other Rites of the Catholic Church pull priests from both the married and unmarried male population which naturally reduces the pedophile vs. non-pedophile ratio. It seems like a great solution, but has not been a Roman tradition for hundreds of years.

This problem is not limited to the Catholic Church, it is also in other Churches, in Schools and elsewhere we think our children are safe. May God have mercy on us and on our children and on those who even think about committing this terrible crime!

however if the priests involved would have simply kept their vows…the “scandal” would have not happened…
Which is why we need to pray for priests - Satan knows that to cause a priest to fall, many people fall right along with him…example, many Catholics stopped practicing their faith because of the scandle. Satan knowing this spiritually attacks priests much more agressively than the rest of us. Please pray for priests.

Actually, a Catholic priest told me that celibacy has nothing to do with it. There was a study done by a Eastern Catholic patriarch who was reviewing the issue of married priests. This is what he found. Among Eastern Catholic priests, who are married, there is high rate of divorce and annulments. Celibacy has nothing to do with the pedophile crisis.

The pedophile crisis has a lot to do with bringing in Catholics who have a liberal view on homosexual and allow them in the seminary. There is a connection of pedophiles and homosexuality. I recommended Tim Staples CD set “Goodbye, Good Men”

**Iin the Bible, love had nothing to do with getting married. Marriages were arranged by the families involved.

I’m sorry, I think you misunderstood the purpose of my remark. I am NOT talking about courtship or arranged marriages. WITHIN marraige, the DIvine Love within us is the source of what SUSTAINS it. I should have said SUSTAINS, not DRIVES. Sorry.

THe point being, some argue that men in general cannot do anything but have sex. If a man cannot control himself, he is not suitable for marriage. Sex by defintion is an act of love, and therefore must be free, because love is free. If a man cannot say no to sex, he is not free.

THerefore, a man should not get married because he cannot control his fallen nature.

If Christ truly redeems us, he can give to certain men the grace to forego relations for life.

In the marriage bed, love must still reign, not lust.

Protestant theology in general takes the nominalist road: we aren’t MADE righteous truly, only CONSIDERED (or imputed) righteousness.

I have stated before that a pedophile priest was a pedophile/predator before he was a priest, and it could have ties to homosexuality or not I do not know, it really does not matter. Pedophiles/predators are notorious for seeking out positions that put them in close proximity of potential victims e.g. teachers, scout leaders, day care workers, youth pastors of other than Catholic denominations, and many others. The priesthood is just one of them. Yes, the CC mishandled the initial out cry of abuse, either due to lack of experience, ability, or willing cover up, but it is now being dealt with, as it should be. The victims are in need of our prayers for healing and we need to pray for the CC to take the right path in dealing with this issue.

Soooo if the priests would have kept their vows of chasity and celebacy…the abuses still would have happened??? That’s a neat trick!
