The facts from any and all sources do not support such a claim at all. The incedent of priests involved was below the average, showing that perhaps celibacy reduced molestation. Further, the incedent of priests involved in any kind of immoral sexual activity is below the non-Catholic number.
The real problem was that it was not handled correctly. No doubt about that. Further, there was a major issue with who was being allowed to become a priest and who was left out. It is strange that the under 50 priests are more like the over 85 ones in understanding. We lost more than a generation.
