The only thing I can say to that is that they probably didnt truly believe in their heart what they were doing. They may have felt that by following all of God’s religious guidelines(that is biblical)that that was enough. What they were missing was the inner relationship that they may never truly asked for from God.The problem is that there are those who, to all intents and purposes, walk closely with Chirst, live reformed lives, and STILL fall away before the end. How does one account for those who, at one time, firmly believed themselves to be saved, and, in fact, lived lives of genuine repentance, but failed to persevere to the end and fell into a life of sin or apostasy? How is such a one, before falling away, to be distinguished, in practical terms, from the “true Christian”?
Lets face it we all know people who play church and then during the week you say to yourself
I dont mean to be picking on catholics(it was just a story about this one church is all). Trust me I know many protestants who are the same way.
My minister always challenges us to not only be christians in church, but be chhristians the rest of the week. Anyway, we cant tell someones heart. I try to just tell biblical truth and working on not judging anyone but praying for them instead.
