A few summers ago I lost a beautiful diamond ring. I’ve never found it. But maybe some day - who knows?
Last week, I was running to answer the phone, and my son was coming towards me. We met in a doorway and we both turned sideways. My cross pendant caught on his shirt and broke from the thingy that holds it to the chain. Even though I knew exactly where we had met, I could not find the cross anywhere. I called on St. Anthony again. I looked and looked - crawling around on the floor with a flashlight - looking under the baseboards, etc. The next day, one of my children said that St. Anthony just must not like me. “What have I done to you?” I asked St. Anthony. No sooner were the words out of my mouth, when I moved a chair and there was the cross - a good 10 or 12 feet from where we had met in the doorway.
St. Anthony rocks!
PS. I love the Litany of the Lost. I’ve been feeling a little down because there seems to be a lot of loss in my life at the current time.
