Yesterday I was watching the news and I saw an ex-fling ( as I will call it ) from when I was 21 and just graduated from university. He is now an economist with a large union speaking about the latest concessions being made. I am not surprised to see him in this role but it was just total hilariousness for me to see him on TV. I laughed my butt off! He looked more filled out but sounds exactly the same.

I couldn’t think of who to call. I dialed two of my best friends who knew him back then too but they weren’t near a TV. I called my DH at work too ( as if he really wanted to her about an ex ) and he thought it was funny too.

I see another ex BF’s dad on TV a lot too as he is a columnist with a National newspaper.

Have you guys ever ran into an ex ( even if it was just someone you briefly dated while discerning ) in a funny situation?

I knew this guy was totally wrong for me for the short time we dated. I remember telling him I was Catholic and how important my faith is to me. He practically snorted and said that was ridiculous, and I was more intelligent than to have some hooey faith! That was an absolute deal breaker. And the fact that he was a total dork anyways 😛

Oh that’s too funny!

Some background… lol… During most of high school I dated this one guy (really good kid, Catholic… kept me strong about my faith) but we weren’t meant for eachother… we were always just good friends. We didn’t get along too well… he had jelousy issues and he became emotionally abusive as he got older (his parents are both like that…) So I broke up with him after 3 years, and about a month later dated a mutual friend, so… of course my ex didn’t want anything to do with me. This all happened about a year and a half ago. I’m 20 now… and have been with “mutual” friend for over a year. =]

So a few months ago, I’m walking across the street trying to get to my college class on time, and I hear this engine revving, then honking at me, and getting closer and closer. Well it scared me, and i kinda tripped, so I flipped the car off (yeah yeah, i know, not a nice thing to do!) I hear my friend whisper “Sarah, that’s Dean…” I look up and he zooms away. I don’t think he realized it was me either, he was just in a hurry. So she was laughing alot haha.
Another time I was walking with my now boyfriend, and we ran into the ex… that’s always awkward. He basically ignored us. Just glared and did the head bounce thing…

Ahhh yes running into your husband or boyfriend’s ex is always sooo awkward.

My DH and I went to the same university at the same time but never knew each other while we attended and only met after we both graduated. One of his ex girlfriends is a girl I also knew in university, but I knew her after their relationship was over, but it is soooooo weird to think about!

That is weird to think about!!! Wow…
In my case, Josh, Dean (ex), a friend of mine, and I would all hang out together. I knew Josh a year before we realized we liked echother (and then dating)… lol, we had just been hanging out together as friends. Its funny to think back and realize all of that!

Well, there are two knew-him-when fellas who (25 or 30 years later, but who’s counting? ;)) are pretty visible in my town. Oddly enough, though I met them in quite different contexts, they’ve both become political journalists.

One was a friendly acquaintance in high school and college who is now a political reporter/interviewer on a local public-TV station. I went on a couple of dates with him: pleasant company, perfect gentleman, good sense of humor, but I just couldn’t get past a vague “icky” feeling about him and could never quite relax. Found out why when I ran into him on campus as he was kissing a date goodbye: a guy. Seems he didn’t discriminate while dating at college, because he was involved with women, too. Haven’t seen him in person since graduation, but I wish him well and hope he’s managed to overcome the SSA or at least cope without succumbing to it.

The other is a political commentator in a local paper. He was an also-ran: my parents had known his parents; we met at a party through mutual friends and seemed to hit it off, and I invited him to be my dance partner at a family wedding. (I’d been allowed to bring a couple of other friends, as well, so it would’ve been more like a double date or small group.) He begged off at the last minute with a really transparent excuse. What made it so hilarious is that my friends and I went out to some college-area clubs after the reception, and we ran into my no-show date on the sidewalk! The look on his face when he saw us was so priceless, it more than made up for the annoyance of being stood up. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: It might not be very nice of me, but I do an evil little giggle whenever I see his column photo. That was one of the funniest moments of my single life!

Hi!

I don’t know if this is what you are looking for or not. I dated this guy one time and decided not to go out with him again. A few years later, I drove by a cop who had him pulled over on the roadside and he was in handcuffs.:o

When I was 20 and in college, I dated a jock who had an ego the size of Mt. Everest. I guess he had set all kinds of records, and he was known all over the state. He left notes for me on my dorm bulletin board, he called me, he came by to see me at least three times a week. We dated for three months and then he started telling me he loved me. He told me he wanted to be part of my life forever, etc. He went home on semester break and came back engaged to someone else. I was really crushed, but he made it into a big deal. He called campus police and told them that I wanted to kill myself because he broke up with me. I went for a walk on a nature trail and came back to find everyone on campus looking for me. I had to see the dean and ended up having to go see a psychologist who I had to convince that I had no intention of killing myself over a jerk like him.

I was soooooo humiliated!!! :blush:He told all my friends that he was just trying to be nice to me, but I had lost my head over him. I just wanted to whole thing to blow over.

I graduated early and moved to another college to get my masters. I went back to the college where I had met Mr. Egotist Jock about a year and a half later to attend my brother’s-in-law college graduation. I stepped into the lobby of gymnasium and ran smack into Mr. Egotist. He gave me a bear hug and told me how nice it was of me to come see him graduate and introduced me to his parents… yada … yada… yada.

I waited until he was finished and then said “Dude, I hate to burst your bubble, but the only reason I’m here is to see my brother-in-law graduate.” Ah…it was a very sweet moment.😃
