I recently started looking at some of these, wondering if they were any good. Have you used one?
Interestingly, I did a freebie preliminary search on one of them and one of the first pictures to pop up was a woman at my parish to whom I’ve been attracted for a while now. A sign?
Hope you’re joking about the sign.

I mean, there is always the possibility but interpreting everything as a sign could easily make one superstitious.

By the way, write to that woman.
And yeah, I’ve used Catholic dating sites for a while. One isn’t really Catholic any more but keeps the endorsement (it used to be practically a ministry). I’ve browsed thousands of profiles, posted dozens of pictures and written quite a lot of text. I’m as single as ever. On the other hand, for some people it works.
I suppose the primary problem with me is generally how hard it is for me to find a girl I develop this kind of interest in that is returned and there are no red flags. Hasn’t happened yet in fact. I just have a more difficult time in general. Other people seem to have success sooner or later, it does seem to work.
Word of advice, have your eyes open, try to notice things, make sense of what you see etc. And don’t fall for professional pictures! The right angle and lighting makes a difference. If you want to form a reliable impression of what someone looks like, you generally need a couple of pictures (or a non-professional, simple, holiday picture that isn’t overly staged and hasn’t been tampered with).
Yup, I signed up on CatholicMatch and Ave Maria Singles, for several years…only to end up meeting my fiancé here on the CAF. Go figure.
Yeah. Ministries and hobby gatherings are generally a better place since things happen more naturally, there’s less pressure and there’s more connection than just being single and wanting to end it.
