John Lennon says it pretty good here about the false fiery hell and similar topics:

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
living for today

I… Imagine there’s no country
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You… you may say that I’m a dreamer
but I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
and the world will be as one.

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed nor hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You… you may say that I’m a dreamer
but I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
and the world will live as one.
You are quoting JOHN LENNON to back up your no-heaven/ no-hell theory? :rotfl: I would hardly look to a serious drug user / agnostic for spiritual truths. Remember he’s the same guy who’d have us believe that we all live in a yellow submarine.

Why do those old folks still repeat prayers over and over with the rosary when the Bible says not to pray like that?
The Bible says not to pray them in vain. Do you know their hearts to know that is what they are doing?

The rosary is a beautiful reflection of the life of our Savior - Jesus Christ. The Our Father prayer is one Jesus gave us Himself. The Hail Mary prayer is also right from scripture. Why would you have a problem with the Glory be to the Father… and to the Son… ???

Maybe when you prayed it you didn’t mean it… in which case you shouldn’t pray it. But when I pray the rosary I mean every word.

Let me ask you a few questions now, what were Jesus’ two main commandments? Plus, what do you think of disfellowshipping?
Why are you asking more questions instead of addressing the numerous scriptures that support the Catholic Church’s teaching of hell?

It seems that you ignore whatever you can’t dispute… why is that? Don’t you want to know what the Bible really teaches??

This is all that my point was referring to in the last post.
I know I said I was through with the thread. Sorry to disappoint you. 😉 CM

I ran to the church, and now I wonder If I should have sought God more first.
OK, lets cut to the point that may have brought some of you back here. This statement TOP put up raised some eyebrows here, don’t you think. I think it is the most valid statement I have read on this forum so far and I too came to the same realization about the view of knowing the Father first as he is not this abstract distant person we go thru life fearing that he will tormentment us for ever in Hell. Thats rubish. He knows the number of every hair on our head and reads our heart. Hearing someone say that they want to find God first literally as I sit here sends chills up my spine. I know what he means and know this disturbs some to read it.

Music is a meaningful part of my life. Songs continunually play in my head as I am a musician and play guitar, piano and drums and write music myself. Songs like the Beatles "Let it Be’, “We can work it out” and “Your Bird Can Sing” (about materialism) have and have provided me with peace thoughout the years and they will continue to do so. Lennon’s “imagine” hits the nail on the head that there is no hell below us. I trust what is said here more than false teaching that were implanted in my brain during my youthful Catholic childhood days, for example: You die, maybe you go to purgatory (another false teaching not in the Bible). Maybe your Bad and God torments you in a fiery hell for enternity (believe me brothers and sisters, the true loving God does not do this, another false teaching). Maybe you go to heaven and go stand in line at the purligate and if your lucky you enter the throne to be with the saints (another false teaching). Why don’t we learn about what the Bible really says about the new heaven and new earth? Why is that not taught to young Catholics so we don’t grow up and then later have to read about the new heaven and new earth and have to relearn the true meaning of the Bible rather then all this trash about purgatory (a word not mentioned once in the Bible).

Lennon too is imperfect, but inspired a generation and is my favorite musician and music would not be a big part of my life if I didn’t take up the Gutar learning his music early in my life even though he too had human imperfections brought about from the sins of our forefather Adam, like me and you too brothers and sisters.

I would take the words of “Imagine” any day over something Cardinal Bernard Law might say(who ended resigning as a church leader after years of cover up). Music inspires the soul, sing praises to Jehovah to His name. tommy

The Hail Mary prayer is also right from scripture.
Praying to Mary, yet another false teaching from the Catholic Church.

In regards to prayers to saints or through Mary Jesus had this to say: John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”.

This quote directly from Jesus says the only way to come to the Father (in prayer) is through Jesus, our ruler, to the Father. As a Catholic I used to say this pray to St. Jude when I lost something as a superstition , that the item may be found. This is not through Jesus to the Father, another false teaching.

These questions are relevent in this discussion as I will tell you here in a moment. If you read back through this thread and the one I put up on Revelation notice how I get bombarded with a zillion questions and then the comment comes up that I didn’t answer each and every question. Yet, my questions do not get answered like the one I have had up here under the signature on my recent posts.

The question that I asked I will answer. What was Jesus’ two main commandments. First, to love Jehovah God with all your heart mind and Soul. This is often ignored to the extent of taking issue of even mentioning His name that does appear in Exodus 6:3 in the King James Bible. I have discovered that there is a sense of rejection of His name here. Jehovah is the english translation of the Hebrew for letters YHWH (Yahweh) and it does not make any sense how His name is rejected here.

Jesus second commandment replacing many of the 610 Mosiac commandments was to love your neighbor like you would love yourself, another commandment some choose to ignore here (sorry, but it is my observation about some in the faith). However, some real nice people are right here like Sylla and Lillith to name a few and you can tell they live by this commandment in their mannerism. But I see a big chunk of the remarks like this one:

*Tommy - First of all, I have to say that it was uncalled for you to use sarcasm against carol marie like that; I hope that those in charge of monitoring such things take note. *

OK, lets say then the moderators say OK AHF is right lets ban him. Doesn’t that result in a form of disfellowshipping, something you, Carol Marie, spoke out against the Sitnesses for. Are we for or against disfellowshipping? Not sure what you think here.

Or how about one like this, “I am through with this thread” but there really not through. Is that loving your neighbor like yourself? I told you I am willing to go from here at anytime, but why is there still interest in keeping this thread going?

Tommy,

I am interested in keeping this thread going because it becomes obvious to all those reading that you are using the typical JW tactics to avoid having to explain ANY scripture that doesn’t support the JW beliefs. You ignore the scriptures… you dodge the questions (by asking additional questions) and when all else fails you start lobbing “you shouldn’t pray to Mary” or the trump card… Priests (Cardinal Law refrence) molest children.

You forget that I was a witness… I know the tactics because I was brainwashed into doing the exact same thing.

Now the mods have already asked us to stick with the topic at hand… everlasting life and go ahead & call me a cheerleader (?) but I’d really like your response or any other Jehovah’s Witness that would care to respond - to the list of scriptures At His Feet posted. Those scriptures totally support the Catholic Churches very correct belief that hell does exist…despite what the Jehovah’s Witnesses and John Lennon would like to believe.

This isn’t anything personal Tommy - this is a discussion about what the Jehovah’s Witnesses believe vs. what the Catholic Church teaches regarding everlasting life. Let’s stick to the topic at hand, shall we? If you want to discuss the Greatest Commandment or disfellowshipping or song lyrics that move you, please start a new thread.
