I understand this quote to mean something like what LilyM said.

They call Jesus good, yet only God is good. I think it’s kind of like a mini-test. You know that only God is good, so why do you call me good? Simple answer, He is God.
Precisely! 👍

For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don’t believe, no proof is possible. I fear gurrato alaien is one of the latter.

wow. thats an amazing passage. God telling the angels to worship someone else.
No, God is simply demonstrating that the Godhead is not composed of the Father alone; thus the Son, Incarnate in the God-Man Jesus Christ, is to be worshipped since He, too, is God. Of course, if one keeps missing the meaning of the Trinity (One God in Three Divine Persons), one would misinterpret - as you did - what the divinely-inspired passage is teaching.

Do not kidding us and your people, do you think this can be convinced even for kids
Jesus said during his trail. “I AM.” He also said before Abraham, I AM.

Jesus is also worshipped and he didn’t rebuke anyone from worshipping him.

Take a closer look at several passages in the Bible that shows Jesus is worshipped and that he is God.

Rev. 4:9-11; 5:8,12-14; 7:11-12 - both Jesus and the Father are worshiped. The Greek word for worship is “proskuneo” which always means the worship of God.

Matt. 2:2,11 - the magi who came to see the newborn Jesus came to worship Him.

Matt. 8:2 - a leper came to Jesus and worshiped Him without rebuke.

Matt. 14:33 - the apostles who were in the boat worshiped Jesus without rebuke.

Matt. 28:9 - Jesus’ disciples took His feet and worshiped Him without rebuke.

Matt. 28:17 - Jesus’ disciples saw Him and then worshiped Him.

Mark 5:6 - the man with the unclean spirit ran to Jesus and worshiped Him.

Luke 1:11 - Mary accepts Elizabeth’s declaration “the Mother of my Lord” = the Mother of my God (Elizabeth used the word “Adonai” which means “Lord God”).

Luke 24:52 - as Jesus ascended into heaven, the apostles worshiped Him.

John 9:38 - the blind man who was cured by Jesus worshiped Him.

John 20:28 - Jesus accepts Thomas’ statement “My Lord and my God!” Literally, “the Lord of me and the God of me!” (in Greek, “Ho Kurios mou kai ho Theos mou”).

Warning from Jesus in the bible for the lip service Christianity, the lip service following.

Matthew 15:
7You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:
8 " ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.’"

Evidence that Jesus is not GOD and should not be worshipped.

Hit the road Jack and never come back no more,no more no more. What you say?

Peace
this shows no evidence of one not worshipping christ or god… It obviously about people saying they are one with God with there words but there actions do not… i hope this thing wasnt your idea mate

I say, believe what you will, the only person I have to answer for when I stand before Jesus is me, for what I have done, and believed. I have educated my children in the one true Faith, helped my fellow man, and prayed for your soul. You will have to answer for yourself.

Matthew 19:16 Jesus said “Why call me good, there is none good but One, that is GOD”?

clearly he said I am not a God.

The doctrine of the Trinity is believed by all Christian groups. Some groups profess to be Christian and do not believe in the Trinity, however, none of these groups are truly Christian because their various perversions of the gospel cause them to have, “a form of godliness but denying the power thereof” (II Timothy 3:5).

John 10:30
I and my Father are one

John 20:28
And Thomas answered and said unto him,
My Lord and my God.

Jesus IS God, and to assume otherwise is blasphemy. The Bible has NOT been corrupted. The people who take words out of the Bible and put their own interpretation into it and take words out of it and add their own are guilty of altering God’s word, and read what the book of Apocalypse says about that, at the end of the Apocalypse read what it states about people who add or take away from the Bible. the Catholic Church has NEVER altered scripture to suit our belief. NEVER.

The jw’s have taken words out of the Bible and added their own, and interpreted it to suit their belief. Jesus Himself said " I and the Father are One" If He was not God, He would never have said it. Also, Thomas states in the book of Saint John: My Lord, and my God!" he never would’ve said that to Jesus if He was not God.

Be careful what you say lest you be guilty of blasphemy.

Too bad the forums were down for so long and when they came back up the April stuff was the latest. Now we are rehashing this trash. Mohammed was a false prophet who has caused more suffering in the world than anyone else I can think of.

Amen to that. Mohammed is a false prophet. Jesus is the last prophet. There are no prophet after him.

Jesus is Prophet, Priest, and King.

Old thread, tired tired old argument which doesn’t even make any sense.

Best let sleeping anti-Catholics lie

Amen to that LilyM,

read your Bible mate and you will see the fatuous nature of that lie.

No one can stop you from taking verses out of context and whipping them around whenever you care to. Didn’t Satan do that when he tempted Jesus in the desert?

Even Satan referred to Jesus as the Son of God, being confined to no mortal powers.

Mt 4:3 The tempter approached and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread.” NAB

How is that evidence? It appears he’s attacking those who’s actions differ from their words: they claim to worship God in words, but not in deeds.
LOL, You call this EVIDENCE,what are you smoking ???

Matthew 19:16 Jesus said “Why call me good, there is none good but One, that is GOD”?

No. He’s saying he is God-- and this is why he’s good.

This is much the same way that Christ responded to the woman’s praising his mother in Luke 11:27, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”

When Jesus responded with, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it”, he wasn’t saying that his mother wasn’t blessed. He was echoing Luke 1:42 that his mother was most blessed among women because she heard the word of God and obeyed it.
At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed:
“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!”
And Mary said:
My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
even as he said to our fathers.
Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.
In other words, Jesus’ mother is not blessed simply because she gave birth to Jesus and nursed him-- although these things are very important in her filial relationship with Christ. Rather, Jesus’ mother is blessed as God fore-knew that she would hear and obey all things God required of her: ie., the Immaculate Conception.

Without faith, no Muslim, and nobody else, can possibly believe.

And people cannot be argued into faith - God alone can give it. 🙂 ##

Exactly he denied his divinity.
There are so many verses and accounts in the New Testament that confirm Jesus’s divinity that it is almost laughable that someone tries to deny it from the text. When the doubting apostle Thomas is shown the marks of the risen Christ, he exclaims “My Lord and my God” in reference to Jesus and Jesus Himself does not deny this. At one point Jesus says “Before Abraham I AM” which is a clear reference to His own divinity. At another point He says, “I and The Father are One” and the list goes on and on. Couple that with the myriad of writings from the Church Fathers that confirm their belief in His divinity and it’s not even a close argument. I’m sorry but the Koran is full of inconsistencies and go against direct historical evidence. For instance, the Koran says that Jesus wasn’t crucified but the historical evidence is overwhelming that He was. I respect Muslims belief in a monotheistic God and the same God of Abraham and the old prophets but no one else witnessed the events that Muhammed described whereas hundreds of both believers and nonbelievers were witnesses to the miracles and resurrection of Jesus. With all due respect, It’s not even a close call.

Best let sleeping anti-Catholics lie
Somebody started another thread that is similar, the one about the priest who committed suicide. That poster also had some comment that Jesus did not know Judas would betray Him, and that poster claimed that Jesus made mistakes. There is plenty of evidence of Jesus’ divinity in the Bible. It looks like now that the forums are back, we don’t have hostile Protestants any more; now we just have hostile non-Christians!

The poster on the priest-suicide thread is a Muslim who’s been around here for quite a while - keeps getting back in under different usernames and keeps getting himself banned for his efforts. Always manages to regurgitate a lot of the same stuff regardless of what the original topic of the thread may be.

Pity the fool.
