For sailing, it goes like thisSame applies to sailboats from what I hear.

Considered it most of my adult life. You may consider joining a secular third order.
I’ll toss in my vote for Benedictine Oblate…Considered it most of my adult life.
I’m working on it.Kind of trying to find which one “fits”.
Thanks, though, for suggesting it.

Pretty close to that one actually (#1 on my list). I even have the MD. I live far from the Abbeys though.I’ll toss in my vote for Benedictine Oblate…
As opposed to the ‘New Guard’ which believes that the Church’s teachings must change to accommodate the times? I’ll stick with the ‘Old Guard’: EWTN, the Magisterium of the Church, and Saints Peter and Paul.Okay. Let me respectfully dissent.
I have watched many hours of EWTN - and still do. But I see it as the ‘Old Guard’ within Catholicism. Much that is good is presented, but the overall impression I get is that the Church needs to remain pat, resist any and all change, and even turn the clock back aways.
Dogma: the established belief or doctrine held by a religion. Not a problem, IMHO.One is ‘Women of Grace’. I know the women leader means well, but she is too dogmatic.
Sadly, if you believe that ecumenical means one truth is the same as another truth. That all religions are equally valid. If you think that ecumenical means the idea of a Christian unity in the literal meaning: that there should be a single Christian Church, then there is no problem with the Journey Home. There should be a single Christian Church; One Holy Catholic and Apostolic.Second, “Journey Home”. I know the host tries to sound moderate, but most of the time it is bent on not-so-subtly assailing Protestantism in one form or another. Gosh, the Reformation happened nearly 500 years ago. We live in an ecumenical age.
Again, sadly. I would call ‘old Catholicism’ ‘orthodox.’ Americans believe they are ‘much better educated’ to the point of arrogance that you attribute to Father Corapi. They are also much ‘less better’ catechized, and believe that they can pick and choose what they obey Mother Church on. I think of these ‘new guard’ as cafeteria Catholics at best, or closet Protestants. He preaches the old Catholicism that emphasized unquestioning obedience to the Church. Hey, we live in 2010 and Americans are much better educated and most of them, especially the young, are turned off when they are told that they must obey Mother Church.
Did you mean The Suffering Church? I don’t see it at that time (via Internet to my DVR). I’ll have to try and find it.Black Beard: Please watch “The Church Suffering”. It’s on EWTN Sunday nights at 11pm. I look forward to your comments.
That would not be a fair comparison. Allow me to explain why. We, Franciscans, do not use the Roman Missal or the GIRM. We have our own missal, lectionary and breviary. The general instructions are based on our tradition. If you observe closely, we even follow a different liturgical calendar. There are days when our calendar and the Roman calendar do not coincide. The readings are different. We may have three readings instead of two. We may have a gloria when no one else has one. We may have different prayers and different propers.Look to EWTN to see what your parish should be doing. Compare their Mass to your parish Mass. .
