I love Fr. Corapi, too! I saw him in person at a conference (along with Scott Hahn!) and was even more “wowed” by him in the flesh. I think we NEED this no-nonsense approach to the faith. In the 70’s and 80’s the church abandoned meat and potatoes doctrinal teaching for the lovey-dovey feel good approach to catechesis and it had been a disaster. These are the Catholics who had left for evangelical churches, or who know absolutely NOTHING about the faith. 70% of Catholics don’t believe in the real presence!!! We need Fr. Corapi’s in every church! 👍
I couldn’t agree more!!!

As I have already said on another thread, I love Father Corapi
and I don’t see him as harsh at all. He is passionate about
saving souls and in the process has had threats on his life.
I can understand how people can have preference as far as
a preaching style, but it is what he says that is important.
He tells the truth and the world so badly needs to hear it!

Different strokes for different folks. No one is going to force you to watch him, but those of yus who do like him will continue to watch him. But does he maybe tweak your ocnscience a bit perhaps? Just a thought. No need to comment on that.

Same with writers. I odn’t like G.K. Chesterton but therre ar4e many who do Each to his own.

The important thingis that he is orthodox, sincere, and a good priest. God bless him.

***PauloFreire2, you are not alone my friend. Father Corapi has said that even he can’t stand the sound of his own voice and he can’t wait to finish a sermon and just be quiet. Must be quite a hardship on a man whose only desire is to be a contemplative priest, would you not agree. ***
His loss, Our gain. He has renewed my Faith and I thank the Blessed Mother Mary for him.
Father Corapi started his journey back to God thru the constant prayers and intercessions of his devout mother and aunt who prayed the Rosary for him daily. His is an inspiring story of one man’s salvation. Pray that we may join him on that road.

Holy Mary Mother of God I place all my trust in thee!

Very well said…especially from someone has only two posts here. You are extrmely right…and I have never met more of a humble man…as far as I am concerned he is in the same league as Fr B. Groeschel…

I don’t like the guy’s style (way too harsh). What purpose does his approach serve in the grand scheme of things? I wonder who decided he could make a contribution to national evangelization. I DON’T GET IT! *** Whenever I see him on TV, I bolt across the room to change channels or hit the mute button. The guy really gets under my skin. ***😦

Sorry about that last post. I just joined the group and this is my first reply.

I just wanted to say that not only Catholic’s watch Fr. Corapi but many other denominations do also. I myself am a Baptist. I keep tabs on what is going on with the Catholic church as I have a couple of relatives that are Catholic. He is an awesome speaker, and I thank God for him.

The “grand theme of things” is that there are people who are drawn to Father Corapi, to his message, and how he delivers his message.
It might not be you cup of tea, but there are some people who need to hear him.
I noticed that you knew that he had been in the army, so you probably know his testimony, it is very powerful and there a lot of people down on their luck, into drugs and thinking that all is lost who need to hear what he has to say
I have 3 alcoholic brothers who, when they hear Father Corapi’s voice on TV, drop whatever it is they are doing to listen to him. Two of my brothers are now sober (2 yrs now)…they love him! I still pray for the other…don’t know where he is.

I love Father Corapi and thank God for him! He’s a warrior!!!

I think how not so long ago Cardinal Ratzinger was called the pope’s Rottwieller and this would make me think if Cardinal Ratzinger is the Rottweiler then Fr Corapi must be the junk yard dog. Not pretty to look at, a mean bark - wouldn’t want to experience his bite but loyal until death defending his territory. And a good companion and friend.

I am not suggesting he become our next pope (I pray every day thanking God for Pope Benedict and praying that our Holy Father remains with us and in good healthfor a long time) because should Fr Corapi get wind that I though he should be pope I just might experience that bite, but I thank God he is our side of the fence defending our territory.

Fr. Corapi speaks with authority and takes his responsibility as shepherd seriously. He values and respects life more now than when he separated himself in his younger days and only wants to save souls. Luke 5:10
We need more like Fr. Corapi 👍

Maybe it’d help to read his stuff instead. And I’m not sure if his DVDs have subtitles, but if they do you could turn on the mute and just read along.

One of the reasons why I’m back practicing my faith is due to Fr. Corapi’s preaching, so you might want to really listen to what he says.

However, a lot of people find true Christianity and Catholicism hard to swallow and put up barriers that come disguised in all sorts of ways so they can continue on the way they like.

One of the things that Fr. Corapi says is that he’s not going to stand idly by while one of his brothers or sisters continues merrily on to their way to Hell. I just love that.

I, too, have long admired Father Corapi. I am very disappointed, however, that he seems to have joined the “religion for sale” crowd - I am referring specifically to his “everything for $$$” website and the fact that he doesn’t seem to appear in person anymore (I have been checking his website for a long time now - and all it seems to say anymore is “no appearances scheduled”).
Father Corapi is brilliant. No doubt about that.
I have been fortunate enough to have seen him in person and am very thankful for that.
And I have heard him expound how his plan is to reach millions on a more timely basis by developing his website activities. All while his personal appearances only reached thousands.
All that is understandable.
Except - not the way he is doing it.
I,for one, am not buying in (literally, no $$$) to his Montana web ministry as he is presenting it. Everything is for sale.
I think he may have forgotten that he is a creation of EWTN. Without Mother Angelica’s network no one would know who he is. And if he would take a cue from Mother - on EWTN’s excellent website most everything is not for sale. Sharing the Good News is not something Mother parcels out in a $$ for this CD and $$$ for that monthly Weekly Wisdom fee.
I care not what Father’s stated intention is to do with the money he collects - I know he says he uses it to support his work and his seminarians. Once again, he should look to who “made” him a media star - Mother Angelica. She founded a ministry far beyond Father’s without charging for the Good News. “Just a little something between the gas and electric bills” as she used to say. That’s the proven format that founded the media superstar aspect of Father John Corapi - and I think he should take heed. Not $$$ for CD’s of the Good News and $$$ for monthly subscriptions to podcasts or whatever.
I have been against this “$$$ for the Faith” approach for a long time. “Religious” communities have for a long time now been advertised in my weekly parish bulletin “selling” the Good News in “retreat” formats (and I’m not talking of the ones that are priced to cover costs, so skip taking off on that please). I’m referring to $35 two-hour talks at a retreat house by “Sister” So-And-So with no overnight stays or meals or whatever.
I’m very sorry Father Corapi has chosen this method. I see no reason he couldn’t have done his web “thing” on EWTN’s website at no charge to those needing to hear The Word - and helping to make that website even better than it already is - the #1 website for the Catholic Faith. Just as both Christ and Mother never charged to spread the Faith - Father Corapi should take heed!

I seem to recall that he spoke at an event in Massachusetts last year, the same weekend as a nearby Catholic music festival. I heard that he had slammed the Catholic music scene from the stage. I wish I can get his actual comments. That said, I’m quite concerned that he would dig into his Catholic brothers and sisters (with different talents, to be sure).

A few years ago, my DH would watch. I would walk by, listen for just a few minutes and then say, “why are you watching this fire and brimstone priest”

Then I listenened to him and wow! I heard the truth that I had not heard for years. I was nominally catholic, and had not been to confession for years…and I would like to thank him for calling me back to the faith.

I had the opportunity to see him in person (better in person significantly). There he explained that his ministry has employees that assist with various aspects and that he had a payroll and insurance to pay for his employees. I don’t worry to much about him getting rich from the sale of his products.

Fr. Corapi was my introduction to the Catholic Church, along with Mother Angelica, but he caught my attention first and held it.

I think it is obvious that God uses Fr. Corapi for the spiritual edification of many Catholics (and soon to be Catholics 😉 ), in overwhelming numbers. He may not appeal to everyone, but he doesn’t have to.

It seems to me that to question the worth of his ministry within the Church is to second guess God’s wisdom in placing him right where he is. It also seems to me to second guess God is, well, not the wisest thing, although plenty of people seem to do it. 🤷

And making fun of Fr. Corapi is making fun of a person created by God in His own image, a person Christ died for and loves deeply and has chosen to use in a profound way. We should all be so blessed and obedient to the will of God in our lives. 😦

You are very much in the minority here. I appreciate his honesty and his honest to goodness personality. I like his sense of humor too.

Let alone making fun of a priest!

If you could purchase just one DVD set of Fr. Corapi’s for a Non-Catholic, in hopes to evanglize the Church to him, what would it be?

(speaking of my DH  )

When I find Fr. Corapi getting “under my skin” it invariably means his preaching has touched a nerve connected to a sinful aspect of my life that I have been trying to ignore or rationalize. Fr. Corapi’s charism is preaching and if preaching doesn’t sometimes make you squirm you are either already perfect or . . .
