Ex-Catholics in this forum persumed to know and understand the Catholic Church. However, they do not. If they did understand the Catholic faith they would never leave in the first place.

Ex-Catholics are just another clone copy of Martin Luther.

Whoa! brother!

I am not sure what you want this thread discussion to be about…if anything…but please…check yourself…I appreciate your fervor for teaching the truth of the Catholic Church, but be careful of your demeanor.

I have. I just bringing this topic up because a lot of Ex-Catholics here seem to think they know Catholicism but they do not. They are not the Magisterium. They have no authority. Why should we take them seriously?

So they are not experts of Catholicism.

Agreed…

Though, we should take them seriously as fellow human beings who deserve our respect and our open ear.

I was not saying you were getting out of line…I have just noticed these threads of the last half hour are turning pretty heated. I just did not want things to get out of line.

Carry on!

May the Peace of our Lord be with you!

I think the Non-Catholic Christians (Protestants) here have really push a nerve in me. So it kinda gets me upset how foolish their statements are. I admit I have wrote really nasty stuff about them… So I’ll play fire with fire…

Some of the most potent, vile anti-Catholics are ex-Catholics. The usual ex-Catholics are the ones who know very little about their faith - through misleading propaganda or cultivated bigotry injected into them through Protestant ministers and laypersons. They are also the ones with some beef with the Church - like King Henry VIII, because they could not get what they wanted.

Are ex-Greek Orthodox experts on Greek Orthodoxy?
Are ex-Protestants experts on Protestantism?
Are ex-Mormons experts on Mormonism?
Are ex-Muslims experts on Islam?
Are ex-occultists experts on occultism?
Are ex-neopagans experts on neopaganism?
Are ex-Scientologists experts on Scientology?
Don’t forget to include “Are Mormons who pretend to be Catholic experts on Catholicism?” 😉

Are ex-Greek Orthodox experts on Greek Orthodoxy?
Not really. They are not theologians.
Are ex-Protestants experts on Protestantism?
They are not but they are not Anti-Protestants and they often claim they benefit from their Protestant faith.

From what I have observed, many former Protestants who convert to Catholicism do not have Anti-Protestant feelings. I like to add that Scott Hahn love his Protestant faith and Alex Jones as well.

I do noticed the difference from Ex-Catholics. They are often angry at the Catholic Church rather than respect it. EWTN shows some of this to be true.

I’ve only been Catholic for 6 months, and I don’t pretend to be an expert on anything. I have a ton of stuff to learn, and welcome the opportunity.
You sure do. First thing is to get rid of the idea you can somehow perpetrate the Church with your occultist views.

I have met many people like you before in other forums. Everyone is suddenly an ex-Catholic or a wayward Catholic whenever they have something nasty to say about the Church - desperately trying to get an audience by falsifying their identity. But just to make this clear - Taqiyya and Kitman isn’t taught in Christianity - especially in the Catholic Church.

It is been my experience that most who hold themselves out to be ex-Catholics are not. Not only do they have little knowledge of basic Catholic doctrines that usually they can’t even tell you the proper order of receiving the sacraments. There was a guy on here who held himself out to be a cradle Catholic and I asked if he had his confirmation before or after his first communion. He said before.

So then, anyone who is not Catholic doesn’t understand Catholicism? Is that your argument?

Or they could have had a bad experience with one of the scandals the Church is currently going through.
Could be that does not explain why they have such a poor understanding of Catholic doctrine. And if they are seeking a church that is scandal free they’ll have to start their own- which are probably remain scandal free for about a week.

I agree. Often they have not studied it like we have. Finally something we agree on!

When they preaches something that the Catholic Church does not teached.

For example, “indulgence was made to make money in the church.”

That is a false teachings which many Non-Catholic Christians (Protestants believe).

Is it possible to understand Catholicism and not agree with it?
Fr. Corapi once said in his lectures. “Understanding the teachings is not often required.” A Catholic himself cannot truly understand the doctrine of the Trinity. You have to have the mind of God to understand it. Rather, you must rely on faith in order to believe.

A Catholic has to agree with all what the Church teaches. They cannot disagree. If they did, they would be heretics. Look at Arius and Nestorius. They disagree with Church teachings and the Councils condemned them as heretics.

I thought your premise was that one can only be an ex-Catholic if one doesn’t understand Catholicism. No?

Let me make a clarification. Many Ex-Catholics here and offline often told me. “I used to be Catholic then I learn about the Bible and I found the CC is not the Biblical Church. So you should too leave and join our church.”

Now I don’t know why I should make the conclusion just because an Ex-Catholic received a “private revelation” that Catholicism is false then I should leave. I do not believe them any more authorized than the next guy.

To find the truth Church, you have to see what history has to say. I found out that the Church established by Jesus Christ is One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. No Protestant Church matches this.

Eastern Orthodox got it but they do not have the Keys of the Kingdom. Only the Catholic Church has the keys of the kingdom.
