Exactly. Those who pretend to care about the child are just advocating for the normalization of same sex “marriage” by trying to shame others.
Yeah! It’s been prevalent on these type threads of late hasn’t it?..and mostly by those with Catholic listed as their religion…go figure!..Maybe they should change it to catholic.

Peace, Mark

Having a two year old in a day care poses a threat to nobody. In fact, because of her parental situation, would it not be positive for her to be exposed to “Christian values” that this day care claims to uphold.
It would. Had the father not insisted upon representing the other man as his spouse, then the child would be in that positive situation.

As far as the “threat” to others. Two men being presented as “parents” to the other families and children would have the effect of teaching acceptance of gay “marriage” to those families and children.

Agreed,👍:thumbsup:If it were about the interests of the child, the child’s father could have presented himself as a single parent, but this was and is not about the child but about having the school accept his ‘marriage’ using the child to do so.

Why would a loving parent put their child in a religious school whose theology you abhor?
That’s a pretty extreme assumption to make. There are many Catholics who disagree with certain teachings, but love and respect the Catholic Church despite this.

The child’s father was asked by the school to present himself as a single parent and he refused. This father wants his same-sex relationship front and center.

👍 It makes no sense at all to do so.

But the child is not the only person to consider here. As the bishop said, he had an obligation to protect the other children too. One child’s needs don’t trump the needs of the rest of the students, their parents or the teachers.
👍👍👍

I hate this attitude. People have no respect. They think money can buy them everything and have a sense of entitlement. The school was right to refuse this man.

Exactly. If Catholics decide to send their children to a Catholic school, and a private one that is free to reject the secular agenda, then these parents should expect to have their children in a Catholic environment.

I feel really sorry for children who are raised by homosexual couples, but that does not mean that I have to accept such a family as a normal arrangement in a Catholic school. I’m sure these people will find a place that is more suitable to their beliefs and lifestyle.

It is often quite obvious where these people stand, given the user name and description of their Catholicism: liberal, progressive, fallen away, etc. No surprises there

Do you really support discriminating against a 2 year old because her dad is in a gay relationship? That seems petty and weird to me.
It should be up to ANY private business to refuse service to ANYONE for ANY REASON.

Let the free market work!

And are you as diligent about discussing discrimination when Catholics are persecuted?

Do tell!

They are discriminating against the gay couple, and yes, I support just discrimination. Do you really support clamping down on religious freedom? That is petty, but I guess completely normal for you.
Laws discriminate by their very nature.

It’s a fact of the legal system.

Maybe we should pass laws that don’t discriminate against people who can’t pay for services and sent them over to where Catholic liberals work and see how that goes?

We both know, St. Augustine, that the only reason this comes up is because support so-called “gay marriage” is cool.

Either a person can for God or of this world, and Western liberals think they can have the best of both worlds, which is cool cause they get to have all the fun in and pleasure themselves in this world and have a bye into heaven.

This is what the unwritten nonsense of the Democratic Party, Labour Party, Greens and Hollande people would have us all think.

“No, really, you’re being Christian by giving me what I want.”

I can imagine the scribes and Pharisees told Jesus something similar.

One more thing----some bloggers and posters like to talk big and show off their written communication skills, in no small part because the secularists in academia and the media elite tell them over and over they are smarter than all the nice folk back home in the heartland, but the truth is most of the time they end up saying nothing of value or substance.

It’s all a bunch of window dressing and they have to do it simply because the facts go against what they want.

Seriously? You can disagree with the choice made by the parents, but why should the child have to suffer? The child is at NO fault here.

This kind of discrimination sickens me.
Discrimination? A Catholic Bishop applying Catholic teaching in a Catholic school. Of course the gay couple deliberately did this to create this situation when they knew well this is what would happen.

Catholicism is totally correct again in repeating how same sex marriage and homosexuality is an abomination and perverts the natural order of things. No matter how much feminists try to change men, men and women are inherently different and its that difference that in a loving and committed marriage that can best nurture and raise children.

God made it this way.

Where in Catholic teaching does it say that a two year old can be denied day care based on her parental situation?

We “discriminate” all the time: good food vs. junk food, good music vs. gangster rap, modest clothing vs. immodest clothing, politeness vs. impoliteness, etc. ad nauseum. This is simply “just” discrimination. And what about the children of the other parents who’ve placed them in a Catholic school, for a Catholic education, with Catholic morals and values? What about the rights of those children?

The child isn’t being denied day care - the parents are being denied the opportunity to enroll their child in** that particular school**. No one has a right to go to any particular private school.

If you really want to look at Church teaching, the only “right” that is being denied this child is the right, clearly described in MANY Church documents, to be brought up by a loving mother AND father.

I find your statement extremely disturbing. So according to your belief, it is acceptable for a racist to deny service to African-Americans at a family owned restaurant? Let the free market work, I guess?

Also, I reject your snarky assumption that you must be a Republican in order to be Catholic.

While reading the article I remembered an interview that Cardinal Bergoglio gave back in 2009. I wasn´t able to find the interview in english but found this article that mentions it and, as I see it, it´s interesting to draw a parallel with this discussion. Baptism is obviously not the same as daycare but still, I would think the same principle applies.

He put his disordered relationship above the needs of his child.
