Georgetown invited Kathleen Sebelius to speak who is radically supportive of abortion that she vetoed a bill of late term restrictions on abortion. Georgetown covered up the name of Jesus when Obama came to speak who is once again radically pro abortion. Georgetown has not followed the USSCB document ‘[Catholics in political life](http://old.usccb.org/bishops/catholics(name removed by moderator)oliticallife.shtml)’ which said:

The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.

Marymount College was declared non Catholic by the Archdiocese of New York after Hillary Clinton (pro abortion) was invited to speak.

Marist College was declared non Catholic by Cardinal Edward Egan of the Archdiocese of New York after pro abortion New York Attorney General Elliott Spitzer was allowed to give a commencement address.

Whether these were closed because of these two pro abortion speakers at these universities or because of a long history of violating Catholic teaching I am not sure.

Nazareth College and Saint John Fisher College have been declared non Catholic by Bishop Matthew Clark.

I applaud them for taking action but it is very sad that the heads of these institutions caused this.

Should the Church start issuing more excommunications? Or would that feed the trollsand just allow the excommunicated to flaunt themselves to the world?

When lay people start telling ordained priests that they’re wrong and not upholding the mission statement of the institution, I’d want to know how this broke down. Where’s the leadership from the ordained? How can one be a priest and say no to abortion, preach that from a pulpit and then put on another hat as an administrator and say okay to Sebilus giving the graduation address? And then wonder why your students, their parents, alumni, and outside Catholics are saying “WHAT?”

This was a total slap in the face when you consider that there wasn’t anyone in the Catholic Community that wasn’t aware of what Sebilius pulled on the Church. At the time they scheduled her, the Mandate as well as Sebilius herself were, I would say, notorious, and this is not to mention her past avid abortion stance…sometimes I wonder who was paying who.

Good for William Peter Blatty! I hope he wins so another Catholic in Name university can be publically stripped of the title of Catholic University which they so thoughtlessly misused!

I hope this happens across the world to all hospitals, adoption agencies and other organizations that claim to represent Catholics and then behave like heretics!

A cynic might suspect Blatty was coyly attempting to flirt with relevance. Relevance, of course, will have none of it.

The Jesuits have no control over Georgetown anymore. It is governed by a lay board. Even if the clergy wanted to make changes, they could not, because it is out of their hands now.

Well, how did this happen? I don’t know much about setting up a board but I would think the board should always have x number of Jesuits on it. The rest should be made up of practicing Catholics. Do we know who makes up this board?

It does raise several important questions, IMHO.

I know that bishops try to reconcile people privately before a public action is taken. In the name to be pastoral.

Which only furthers the case that it is no longer a Catholic university and should stop identifying itself as such.

The author who turned Georgetown University into a horror scene in “The Exorcist” plans to sue the school in church court, charging that his alma mater has strayed so far from church doctrine that it should no longer call itself Catholic.
How does he have any more standing than other Catholics?

He has more standing by the virtue that he is acting in the defense of the faith.

You do the right thing. You don’t worry about what the trolls and the other garbage will do. They’re going to do it anyway. When you begin worrying about what the enemy will do to the point where you don’t act, you’ve lost.

More standing than what, or who? How does that give him more than, say, the average Catholic?
IMHO, it’s not a question of whether Mr. Blatty has more standing than any other Catholic. I’m sure he’d be the first one to say he doesn’t. It seems to me that this is an example of an average (faithful) Catholic, who happens to have the means to file a lawsuit of this type, doing what he can to defend the Faith.

Maybe it’s his way of issuing a challenge to us “average” Catholics to stand up and do what we can, in turn, to defend our Faith. “Think globally, act locally.”

“ideas” can be dangerous. Specifically ones that devalue and affront the innate value and dignity of human beans.
