I think you misinterpreted what the study said.The study did not examine the propensity of youth attracted homosexuals to act out.No conclusions could be drawn as that was not examined in the study.We are having this discussion because a psychiatrist said that these crimes were homosexual in nature and others are denying it.

I think the debate is important in terms of preventing future sex abuse. Prevention requires an understanding of the clinical definition of the terms we are discussing and the frequency of each type. It will put more children at risk of abuse If this is erroneously labeled as a problem primarily of homosexuality and the scope of preventative measures is focused so narrowly based on that false assumption.

A homosexual is scientifically defined as an individual with exclusive preference for same-sex adults. 72.9% of the victims were 14 or younger so the vast majority of these crimes were committed by Hebephiles and most hebephiles have no gender preference and target victims based on age and opportunity. I understand and concur.It is not Physics or Engineering.It is soft and quite malleable as each person is unique and in psychology sometimes 2+2 DOES equal 5.The only strictly scientific courses I took in attaining my degrees were Statistics and Statistical analysis.
That is why it is listed in the Arts at University.

Abstract: Due to clergy sex abuse scandals centered primarily in the Northern hemisphere, the
moral authority of the Roman Catholic Church has been subjected to an opportunistic siege by
prominent individuals and organizations who see the chance to advance their goals, including the

There is also a strongly defensive element to this strategy. Opponents of the Church know
that there is a well-documented and strong correlation between male homosexuality and child

its moral authority to preach on the sinfulness of homosexual behavior and weaken its opposition to

If I quoted a statistic from some other homosexual activists that disagrees with this, would you believe it? How do you decide which homosexual activists you agree with?

Why would a homosexual priest be vastly more likely to prey on adolescent males than his heterosexual fellow priests to prey on adolescent females? Is that an indication of the % of homosexuals in the clergy, or the mere fact that one is homosexual makes him more likely (again statistically speaking, we’re not talking huge numbers here) to be a predator? Thanks for any light you can shed on my questions.

I suspect it’s the second explanation. The percentage of homosexuals in the priesthood may be higher than in the general public but, it’s hard to imagine it’s anywhere near the 80% - (80% of abuse in the study involved male/male activity). The NAMBLA organization publicly promotes homosexual activity with underage boys. And the 1980’s CDC studies of the California bathhouses during the start of the AIDS epidemic revealed the participants engaged in numerous encounters during each weekend visit.
