A terrorism expert says he has seen evidence showing al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is either seriously ill or dead.

Dr Clive Williams, director of terrorism studies at the Australian National University, says documents provided by an Indian colleague suggested bin Laden died of massive organ failure in April last year.

“It does seem reasonably convincing based on the evidence that I’ve been provided with that he’s certainly either severely incapacitated or dead at this stage,” Dr Williams said. Dr Williams said Ayman al-Zawahiri, bin Laden’s deputy who was the target of a US air strike in Pakistan last week, has been making all statements on behalf of the terror network for the past year.

I’m not exactly sure what makes him an “expert” on this or not, because I have been saying the same thing lately as well. He could have easily been killed in the Pakistani earthquake. It is pretty obvious from the fact that Osama has not had any videos with himself on them.

The thing I am reminded of was his dialysis. Now being a dialysis nurse I know that there are lots of things you have to do to prepare water before you can use it for the dialysis process. Where is he getting his supplies such as tubing, needles and dialyzers? Seems to me that those items can be tracked as to who they are sold to. I do not see how this process can be done hiding in a cave. You have to have plumbing and infection control procedures. Even if you used spring water. that water still has to be softened and purified. Then there is the issue of the Acid or “Bath” used. It has to be a precise mixture of potassium, calcium and other electrolytes to actually make the dialysis process possible. Then there is the issue of the access being used itself. If his “fistula” became infected or clotted, and they often do, it takes a surgeon to correct it. I know all this sounds technical and so it is. Almost too technical to be performed on the run in a cave without modern utilities. Brings me to one of two conclusions, that he is dead, or not even in that area at all and is being expertly hid or sheltered somewhere. That is if he really was on dialysis?

How real is the whole dialysis thing that bin Laden supposedly needs to use?

I was reading that the kidney failure story was concocted on a one-time basis by the CIA and the Pakistani government as some alibi or other. And that there was no factual basis.

And that the same one-time story just keeps getting resurrected and repeated over and over.

I am pretty sure that the kidney failure/dialysis thing was probably just wartime propaganda. He would in no way be able to control an organization such as al-Qaeda were he on dialysis, that is unless he is being hidden somewhere with material support from nations.

I tend to agree. WIth hte magnitude of the most recent earthquake, if illness hasn’t gotten him, I’m sure the earthquake.
How long will we have to wait until he ‘does’ show up in a video again?. I’m just weary about Osama impersonators.
