Eucharistic Miracles are super extraordinary events that serve to give us mortals a boost in our faith. They stand to provide a sensorial and accidental experience to the recipient of the miracle.

Ontologically, the Eucharist of Lanciano is as every other Eucharist the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. What the miracle is - is that the accidents transformed also from bread to Flesh (heart tissue) and wine to Blood.

Why God choose the Heart (as opposed to some other tissue) is not entirely known - but I would venture to guess that it is due to the Heart being the center of His great Mercy and Love for us. The Eucharist is a prime example of this Mercy and Love, so in my thinking it is fitting that this miracle incorporate His Heart.

Precisely! The miracle of the appearance flesh and blood was an additional miracle designed to enhance our faith. It’s very simple, really. It seems to me that Atemi is being deliberately thick…

You speak like an atheist. Since God is incapable of interfering with nature, I suppose you also reject the miracles Christ performed during his earthly ministry?

Hmmmm…so you are equating the power and authority of Jesus Christ with a human being who claims to have grown his and back.

Maybe you just missed this part when I explained it before (how many times now?). Saint John Damascene did not grow his hand back of his own power. It was restored by the power of God through the intercession of Mary.

Why has the BVM never repeated this alleged miracle? Why does she never restore severed limbs at any of her sites (eg Lourdes?).

Me thinks whatver happened to him it was not a restoration of his cut off hand.

I would be interested in reading the eye witness testimonies of his missing hand and its restoration. Preferably from sources that would have no reason to fabricate it and whose authenticity someone had validated. Could you post those so I can read them. It would be great if it included a medical description of the amputation and restoration.

I look forward to the link of independent eye witnesses.

27,000 children die every day for preventable reasons like malnutrition and unsafe drinking water. If Jesus answers prayers as he promises in the Bible, then why haven’t the prayers of billions of people to end world hunger caused Jesus to solve the problem of global poverty?

Wrong…yours is a red herring. Children dying could be solved by mankind. We have the food to feed the entire world. Greed and human evil prevent that.

What I get is that you have no answer to the logic of it. I am waiting for the eye witness accounts to the severed hand and its complete functional restoration.

You’ve dodged the question. If it’s so certain that God is utterly incapable of growing someone’s hand back, it must be equally certain that God cannot have changed water into wine. Right?

Obviously the Bible has more credibility than the claims of a saint, but how can you be so certain the saint is a liar? You seemed to dismiss the claim out of hand, much like an atheist would.

he hasn’t dodged the question at all, in fact those that claim this to have truly happened are dodging the question by providing no eye witness proof to confirm it.

He has dodged the question. I don’t believe in this miracle, since the only proof I have of it is a comment made by someone on this board. I wasn’t even aware the saint existed before reading about him here.

What I’m concerned with is why some smug anglicans think miracles are so utterly impossible… that God can’t interfere in His creation.

I understand…because Jesus raised people from the dead there is no reason to doubt that Benny Hinn (Faith Healer) has also raised peopel from the dead as he claimed. Praise the Lord…we have another Saint among us. Don’t doubt his word as he truly is a man blessed of God to have healed so many and raised the dead. Glory! We just need to get Benny to convert so he can be beatifed and Oral Roberts too. St. Benny & St. Oral 👍

Look…I NEVER said that God is incapable of regrowing a man’s hand…BUT…follow me here…that is a loooong step from saying he regrew this Saints hand. Please post the eye witness testimonies (varied and verifiable) that demonstrate this man was without a hand and then grew one.

See my response above. You are trying the same silly logic used in my first paragraph above.

I am still waiting on the independent eye witness testimony that is valid and verifiable to prove your man regrew his hand otherwise don’t come to me with the nonense of believe cuz he was a Saint (see my 1st paragraph above about this illogic…you don’t want to go there).

I need no such “proof” as a possible miracle at Lanciano to believe in the Real Presence of Christ. I’m curious why God would perform such a miracle at Lanciano and not perform it everyday in every mass. Seems like this falls under putting God to a foolish test.

The bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ. Period. No explanation needed. No proof needed. It’s a mystery that needs no proof.

Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.

The first part of your post was so petty I’ll just ignore it.

My complaint is that you dismissed the claim as if it were impossible. You said that you would only believe the “miracle” if the saint had regrown a fingernail. This implies that you don’t believe that God can interfere with the natural order of things.

A Christian must, by definition, believe that this miracle is possible, since the Christian God is omnipotent. Your comments seemed to indicate that you weren’t even open to the possibility.

I’m sure this was motivated more by a prejudice against Catholics than by a doubt in God’s capabilities, but it’s still troubling.
