You need to interpret the Bible in truth and not in hostility against the Catholic Church…

We already know and believe what you share. You just don’t understand how we believe as Catholics.
Im not sure who this was meant for but that is what Im trying to do.

I would love to attend a mass but I dont want to miss my church service. I have thought of stopping by the Catholic church to see what it looks like, Ive only seen them on tv.
Most Catholic Churches have a vigil Mass on Saturday evening. It’s usually the same Mass that is offered Sunday morning. Because I’m an Emergency Medical Technician and my wife works at a hospital, we attend the Saturday Mass together, when I’m not working on Saturday. If I have to work on Saturday, she attends the Saturday Mass and I attend the Sunday Mass. Her days off are Wednesday and Thursday.

I have a question…What was Jesus’s religion, his religious back ground, his practices of Godly faith, his observances of the Sabbath, his mode of priestly dress, his religious customs? Is it true, John the Baptist, Jesus’s cousin, was an Essene…John was also a practicing Essene, at the time of Jesus’s baptism? Is it also true, that Joseph, Jesus’s earth father, husband of Mary…was also a practicing Essene, living its practices and customs…is it true, during the Last Supper, while eating at the south western gate, with Mt. Sion as back drop, may now prove Jesus WAS an Essene, since this south western gate area and the area outside (in camp area), was also known as the territories of the practicing Essenes? Is it true, that the camp area outside of this south western gate area, around Mt. Sion, were found the long hidden and buried DEAD SEA SCROLLS??
If Jesus rose to heaven around AD 26 to AD 36, and the first Jewish Revolt Against Rome (see Josephus: The Jewish Wars) occured around AD 66 to AD 70…that the entire Essene sect was destroyed…would the Essenes fleeing, have hidden and buried their Gospels…to protect them from being destroyed and lost to all humanity, for all time?

Redemption gets one into heaven, even if they have to be purified before entering. One cannot depend on purification for redemption/salvation.
one is the ticket that gets you in and the other is the dress code? you might have the coat and tie but that wont get you in without a ticket.

You can ask a roomful of Catholics and get a roomful of answers…

I don’t think Christ looks at what we’re wearing as much as He looks at our hearts. With that said, during the Saturday evening Mass, I normally wear a good pair of jeans and a casual shirt, button down and tucked in. They always ask me to usher, so it doesn’t bother them either.

When I attend on Sunday Mornings, it’s a rush to run home and shower and get dressed, then it’s the same, sometimes casual pants, sometimes when I am running short on time, it’s my uniform.

I told you about the Saturday vigil, but don’t know if I mentioned it’s usually in the evening. Ours is at 5pm Saturdays.

P.S. Once I was scheduled on Saturday and Sunday and I talked my partner into letting me attend Mass Sunday morning. I had to wear my uniform and all my gear (scissors, light, stethoscope, radio, cell, etc.) I sat in the rear with the radio turned low. My partner wasn’t interested in coming in and waited in the ambulance. Luckily, I didn’t get toned out. The tone is really loud, even with the radio turned down. It’s designed to wake us up incase we’re asleep (we work 24 and 48 hour shifts, and it’s not unusual to be sleeping, especially if stay up late on the forums, hehe)

Our Lord Jesus Christ did not die to take on our sins…this implies we have free will to be disassociating, negative, unfriendly, mean, and or evil…and he would forgive and erase our books of these wrong and or atrocities, at impunity! We have past life Karma we owe when we come back into this world as incarnations and in cycling, should we not learn and apply GOD"S doctrines and laws, to additional Karma earned, reincarnating…GOD’S Divine Plan is a proving ground to become worthy of our returns to him as Spirit…this was the GOOD NEWS! Be Godlike and live in Godliness and Goodness…become his example and earn your inherrent birthright to be re-absorbed by GOD, after Death. Take responsibility for the contents in your Book of Life! Jesus Christos is the WORD and GOD sent him here to relay to us the GOOD NEWS…that we are redeemable to him by being as he is, living as Jesus’s example in LIFE! If we are compassionate, loving, nurturing, sympathetic, caring, supportive of all humanity, during this incarnation, GOD will open his arms and greet us back into his fold, as immortal Spirit!

So is this official Catholic teaching?

Indulgences

Immaculate Conception

Assumption

Invincible Ignorance

But my understanding is that Catholic doctrine can come also from Tradition which is considered inspired as well.

So you don’t need to show anything really to be scriptural right?

Let’s not fool those who visit this thread. You and I have discussed those issues in your list and you know invincible ignorance is a hope and not doctrine. You also know where the beliefs in the Immaculate Conception and Assumption are scriptural, even if you don’t agree with the interpretation. You also know that tradition is scriptural and again even if you don’t agree with the interpretation.

I have provided scriptures for all subjects discussed so far and really don’t understand your question/insinuation. It’s ironic that you, who have expressed ‘some’ of the Mormon beliefs, state one doesn’t need to show anything to be really scriptural. Again, with our past discussions, much was revealed about the Mormon faith that didn’t appear to be scriptural, or appeared that way by your refusal to discuss certain topics.

Now, that all is up front, I’d still be glad to discuss one subject at a time and provide scriptures, as I explained in the first post. The ‘old’ tactic of throwing up a list as a smoke screen to maintain an agenda, of smearing the Catholic Church, is not going to happen, at least I’m not going to participate in that type discussion. Do you sincerely want to discuss something and can you be respectful of the Catholic faith in doing so? (Just apply the same requirements of respectfulness you require when discussing Mormonism,)

I will let your reply speak for itself. I find that it sounds incredibly defensive.

I was being totally respectful and said nothing against the doctrines; in fact I gave you an “out” because I thought that those things I posted were clearly non-scriptural, and I know that Catholicism like other beliefs does not get all its beliefs directly from scripture.

You asked for posts several times from non Catholics to ask you for doctrines seen to be non-scriptural, I complied with the request.

I frankly do not remember discussions about the doctrines I posted. It’s been I think close to a year since I posted here in any kind of volume

If you choose to ignore these doctrines, it is your privilege,

I just don’t understand what you are looking for if you on one hand request “extra doctrines” and then refuse to respond when they are given.

Well, if you’d like to discuss something, try just bringing up a subject (one per post as requested in the beginning). If you’re out to play the ‘let’s smear Catholics, the Church and every aspect of Catholicism’ game, do it yourself. We both know our history and we both know I’ll discuss anything about my faith, unlike some ‘milk before meat’, ‘bait and switch’, ‘can’t talk about everything openly’ people.

I’m not insulting you, so please don’t insult me. If you want me to make separate posts, I will.

So how is the Assumption scriptural?

**Heb 11:5 By faith Henoch was translated that he should not see death: and he was not found because God had translated him. For before his translation he had testimony that he pleased God.

2Ki 2:11 And as they went on, walking and talking together, behold, a fiery chariot and fiery horses parted them both asunder: and Elias went up by a whirlwind into heaven. **

Luk 1:28 And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
Luk 1:29 Who having heard, was troubled at his saying and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be.
Luk 1:30 And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God.

Two had found favor and were taken up to heaven, scripturally showing that people were taken up to heaven directly.

Mary, full of grace, was the ark of the new and everlasting covenant. Mary, mother of God, submitted totally to the will of God.

**Luk 1:38 And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord: be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. **

Surely if two men pleased God enough to be taken up, the Mother of His only begotten Son deserved as much.

That’s reasonable. I disagree, but it’s reasonable. It could have happened.

And the Immaculate Conception? How did you get that one again?

Of course I don’t believe in original sin anyway

First, let’s look at God’s plan for the ark of the covenant.

Exo 25:11 And thou shalt overlay it with the purest gold, within and without; and over it thou shalt make a golden crown round about:
Exo 25:12 And four golden rings, which thou shalt put at the four corners of the ark: let two rings be on the one side, and two on the other.
Exo 25:13 Thou shalt make bars also of setim wood, and shalt overlay them with gold.
Exo 25:14 And thou shalt put them in through the rings that are in the sides of the ark, that it may be carried on them:
Exo 25:15 And they shall be always in the rings, neither shall they at any time be drawn out of them.
Exo 25:16 And thou shalt put in the ark the testimony which I will give thee.
Exo 25:17 Thou shalt make also a propitiatory of the purest gold: the length thereof shall be two cubits and a half, and the breadth a cubit and a half.
Exo 25:18 Thou shalt make also two cherubims of beaten gold, on the two sides of the oracle.
Exo 25:19 Let one cherub be on the one side, and the other on the other.
Exo 25:20 Let them cover both sides of the propitiatory, spreading their wings, and covering the oracle, and let them look one towards the other, their faces being turned towards the propitiatory wherewith the ark is to to be covered.
Exo 25:21 In which thou shalt put the testimony that I will give thee.

God knows His plan for all things. He knew Mary before she was even born, He also knew she would be the ark of the new and everlasting covenant. Mary was addressed as, “full of grace”.

Luk 1:28 And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

There was another described as ‘full of grace’.

**Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth. **

Surely God wanted a spotless place for the Word to become flesh. We know scriptures tell us God is perfect, He would have no less for a place to become flesh.

Mat 5:48 Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect.

Uh, Ok. I am not going to go there, but for the record, I disagree.
