Food for thought that the Church is putting Franz Jägerstätter on the path to sainthood not because he refused to deny Christ, but because he was a conscientious objector and stood resolutely against the hierarchy of his day.
I’ve read so much about him, and I pray for the day that he will be canonized.

Too many Catholics in Germany then, and in the U.S. today just went along with the generals, refusing to stand as marks of contradiction to those who would lead us into war after war. His canonization would be a tonic to that attitude.

He was very pious, attending daily mass. He had dreams about the Nazi party being a train leading countless souls to Hell, which he took as a personal message. He stood firm, by himself, in his convictions in spite of everyone telling him to give in. He had everything to lose by facing the death penalty. And he on top of it, he was just an ordinary Catholic dude.

Yeah, I hope this guy is canonized.
