Without prior warning, on Thursday Facebook cut off further Wall updates by Catholic Online and blocked all outgoing URL’s due to alleged abuse reports.
Facebook is relatively opaque when it comes to its moderation and administration. However, I noticed something similar when I tried to post on my mother’s wall, with a news link included. My post immediately disappeared. It only reappeared 12 hours later when my mother replied to it.
My guess is that people with bad intent have been posting malicious links on the wall of Catholic Online’s Facebook account. Its just a guess, but I think Facebook may be in the process of tightening up its cross-posting privileges.
Part of the problem is that Facebook staff probably are unfamiliar with Catholic Online, and that it is a reputable organization, rather than simply a title used by an individual or handful of individuals.
