I would like to start by posting Facebooks Definition of/“Policy” on hate Speech:
Facebook does not permit hate speech, but distinguishes between serious and humorous speech. While we encourage you to challenge ideas, institutions, events, and practices, we do not permit individuals or groups to attack others based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition.
Now, after reporting a couple pictures from this page facebook.com/YourJesusHoroscopeFacebook has decided to leave the pictures up:
The two that I felt violated Facebooks policy on Hate Speech were the one with the Starving Man and The Bible, and more recently the picture of the pope that refers to The Catholic Church as “a huge group of pedophiles” and “a huge cult full of child raping, lying bastards.”
Am I misunderstanding the statements made on those pictures as something other than “challending ideas”? It sure does look like an “attack (on) others based on their…relegion…”
If Im wrong please disagree, but please articulate your disagreement. If you agree, maybe multiple reports of violations against Facebook Community standards can get this hate speech off a publicly viewed page.
