Cnn claims it a peaceful protest.
Everybody claims the vast majority of protesters are peaceful. Not just CNN. There is no one who has gone out and counted the number of people setting fires and found them to be a significant fraction of the number of those protesting peacefully.

I haven’t enough information on the event to make a judgement.
But that is irrelevant anyway.
Cnn tried to pass off these riots as peaceful protests. They have proven to be anything but.
Just another case of fake news peddled by this network. And another reason they have no credibility.

If they said they lay claim to a story, my first reaction is disbelief in everything they say.
Do you find FOX to be a more trustworthy news source?

It doesn’t matter.

As soon as the lawlessness and fires started, it ceased to be a peaceful protest and instead became a riot.
Notice how the ambiguous use of the word “it” in the second sentence glosses over the distinction between the peaceful protesters and the violent people. This is an example of using linguistics to make an identification that cannot be made with objective logic.

I have been consistent with my determination that these were not peaceful protests.

The evidence of the lawlessness and burning buildings is there for all to see.

Seems to me the “peaceful protesters”, like Dracula, become extremely malevolent in the dark.

Notice that the ambiguous word in this claim is the word “these”. Does it mean these protest marches? Or does it mean these riots? The ambiguity invites the reader to equate the two.
