Failure to commit to pray the rosary

Good Day everyone!

There is this something that this bothering my mind and I feel guilty about it. Yesterday was the Nativity of the Blessed Mother here in the Philippines and as an offering to her, I told myself that I will pray all 4 mysteries of the rosary (Joyful, Glorious, Sorrowful and Luminous) on that day.

I did Joyful and Glorious and ‘another’ Glorious when our Intercessory Ministry which I am a part of led the rosary at our community.

After some busy schedule at Church, I went home already tired and exhausted. When I decided to pray the Sorrowful Mystery, my head is already getting dizzy because of wanting to sleep and at this point, I’m also messing up the prayers.I’m falling asleep every 2-3 Hail Marys! At that point I just finished the rosary the best I can and went to sleep.

Of course, I felt so guilty of not committing to the promise I had with Mama Mary - its like I disappointed her. It’s her special day after all.

So my question is, did I commit a sin and need to confess this? You see most of the topic that I found online that somewhat related to my situation is when people accidentally fall asleep while praying the rosary and that is fine as to comparing to my situation wherein I CHOOSE to sleep instead rather than continue praying with messed up prayers which I think disrespectful to Our Mother.

Please enlighten me. =(
 
No, you didn’t commit a sin. You spent your whole day doing church stuff, said three Rosaries, and were tired. At best you overestimated your ability to have time for a bunch of rosaries.
Mary understands that you made your best effort.

Just think if you were a child and wanted to make your mother a wonderful birthday cake and it was almost perfect, but being a child you didn’t get the decorations exactly right. Your mother who loves you would LOVE the cake because of the love and sincere desire to give her a special gift. She wouldn’t mind that the letters were squiggly or that a word was misspelled.

Be at peace and remember you can always say her a rosary on another day when you’re more awake.
 
You are disappointed. Mary is not. The best we can do is evaluate our day and the schedule we face. We have to tailor our prayer to our “busyness.” Some days, we risk letting ourselves down if we make promises that may be unrealistic, given the totality of the circumstances.

Love of God is a joyful experience. Do not lose heart over what you did not. Rather, rejoice in what you did.

You did the best you could. Your intention was to continue praying that last rosary - so due to lack of sleep, tiredness, you were messing up the prayers and falling asleep every 2-3 Hail Marys…

Sounds to me like you gave your best effort - the BVM and God knows this and loves you for it.

Perhaps the lesson in all this is to not make such unrealistic commitments in the future. Both God and Mary are more happy ( ETA - when we follow through - so don’t place unnecessary & unrealistic burdens on yourself).

And so it is with our prayer life. God’s love and mercy make up the difference - or else no one would ever enter the Kingdom.
 
Wow! Thank you so much! - I got teary eyed reading this… I just got back in following the Lord after backsliding in my faith for 4 years. And I promised myself that once I started following the Lord I’ll make sure to do this and do that etc. But of course, as a human there will be times that I’ll fail Him. (I also came from a family with a legalistic setup)

And reading this makes me at peace and comforted. Thank you so much!

I will surely take note of this! Actually right now, I’ll be listing all my prayers and identify those that I can actually pray consistently. Thanks!
 
You are very kind. Actually, if we were God looking down, we would see many lost opportunities for prayer during the day. He knows your heart. He knows what you are made of. Do not let your heart be troubled.
 
That is incorrect .
In the book of Jeremiah there was a tribe that followed the statues of their ancestors and it was pleasing to God because it was almost akin to the life of an anchorite.
