Ephesians 4: 24 and put on the new self, created in God’s way in righteousness and holiness of truth.

Jimmy, you really know how to get 'em started! Faith alone and scripture alone make about as much sense as works alone! We know that Scripture and Tradition are the left and right hands of faith. With all of the “solas” you have only one hand to climb a rope. If one must prove a point, it can be done, but why risk the fall?

Isaiah 65:22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands.

James 2:18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

James 2:20-22 You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.

James 2:26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

John 6:28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

John 7:18
He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.

This is why the sola fides wanted James excised from scripture. And some wanted John excluded. But, once you start, where do you stop? First the Septuagint, then James, then John. You are left with the letters of Paul, who preached the Eucharist. :bigyikes:

There is a difference between “Justification” and “Salvation”. Catholics (most anyways) understand this difference. I think that some of our “Protestant” friends, mistakenly assume that “Justification” and “Salvation” are one and the same, and they are not. Please correct me if I am wrong. There is a big difference between the “hope” of “salvation” (Catholic) and a ‘guaranteed salvation” (Protestant).

Faith is dead if it does not have “energeo”.

The “energeo” comes from love, as St. Paul said in Galatians 5: 6.
 
Technically speaking, one could argue that Baptism and Holy Matrimony (marriage) are two examples of necessary “works”.
**If we are “saved” by faith alone, then where in that belief is there a need to be baptized or married? **
**We do these things (works) because as Christians, that is what we are supposed to do. **
We are expected to do those things, which are pleasing to God (works), and if we do not, there will be no salvation for us.
