Works is something we earn or do. I agree you can blow your salvation. Everyone has a chance to be saved. Not everyone accepts him.
So who is making the determination of whether we accept Him? Us or God or both? If we are involved, as you say, does that make “accepting Him” a work?

If you can lose salvation, were do you draw the line of when you lose it.
We don’t get to draw that line - God does at the final judgement. We must persevere in the faith throughout our lives. No shortcuts. Its the best deal you’ll ever get!

I also believe losing your salvation is wrong for this reason. We gain our salvation the Jesus Christ and that alone. If we have towork to keep it that is placing our salvation in the hands of
ourselves to keep it.
Unless, of course, we are doing the work of God by His very Grace that we were created to do . Then it isn’t simply “earning” our salvation, but “accepting it (Him)” each time we have the chance for the rest of our lives. As you said, not everyone accepts Him.

god also says that if we don’t bear fruit we will be “cut off and thrown into the fire”. And Jesus tells us that if we do not forgive others their sins, our heavenly father will not forgive us ours sins. Notice that forgiveness of your sins is conditional on a behavior of yours. Do you think you’ll get close to Heaven without your sins being forgiven by God?
You can always bury yourself with your bible and point out to god all the verses He has forgotten - who knows maybe he’ll cut you a deal-
