There is nothing wrong with falling asleep while praying the Rosary. Just like a baby falls asleep contentedly in his mother’s arms, the one falling asleep while praying the Rosary is falling asleep in his Blessed Mother’s arms.
–How comforting!!! My mother used to say if you fell asleep praying the Rosary, the Angels finished it for you 🙂

St. Therese, the Little Flower, would fall asleep during the Rosary!!

I have a habit of putting my Rosary under my pillow to sleep. When I was pregnant, a dear Jamaican lady who I worked with told me to put the Bible under my pillow to keep away bad dreams that often come with pregnancy (although I don’t remember having any). So I took her advice, Catholic Style, and it’s stayed with me ever since.

My mom’s birthday was a few days ago, and at the end of the day I was horrified to realize I did not manage to pray a Birthday Rosary for her. I went to bed and started praying it… then I started falling asleep… zzzzz! I decided that if I kept my head elevated off my pillow, I could still close my eyes and not fall asleep. OR I could put my head down and keep my peepers open. I managed to say four decades on her actual birthday and finished the fifth the next day. The point of this story is that I had the most wonderful dreams that night. For the first half I dreamed that I was in Heaven (it was all golden light) talking with Pope John Paul the Great, and the second half I was in Rome talking with Pope Benedict! What a wonderful gift–those dreams left me with a wonderful feeling of peace and happiness throughout the day 🙂 And I am sure that I had those dreams because I was praying the Rosary as I fell asleep!

Yay, thought it was just me, so glad to hear I am not alone. I do the Scripture Rosary, so I can’t do it while driving, so I do it at night. 🙂

Awww! This post made me so happy! I like praying the rosary when I have insommia, and pray to God that I can go to sleep. I usually fall asleep while praying, but I was told by my grandmother that is is a horrible thing to not finish a rosary, so I force myself awake. It is good to know that neither God nor Mary does gets angry if you fall asleep. 😃 ❤️

I love your last sentence! Tomorrow is the Memorial of St. Therese of the Child Jesus (the Little Flower) who is also a Doctor of the Church. I am paraphrasing here, but I remember she did say that when she fell asleep while at community praying the Liturgy of the Hours she knew that the Lord loved her just as much as when she was asleep as when she was awake and praying.

I have the opposite experience.

I fall asleep and in my dreams I pray the rosary, all five decades of the Glorious mysteries.

I wake up and I remember praying it.

It happens a lot.

The latest one was about two nights ago. A ghost came to visit me and I was frightened and so started praying the rosary. I had a rosary in my hand in my dream. The ghost joined me and we prayed the rosary together. I still remember her face and even her hairstyle.

She ceased being a frightening ghost and became a person to me.
