This is more on the topic of countries that are losing population, and Christianity declining in these countries.

**Falling birth rates not just a problem in Europe **

**BY MARK STEYN SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST **

“But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.”

If, like increasing numbers of Europeans, you have “some problems with conventional organized religion” (as Harry Potter’s J.K. Rowling puts it), you’ve probably forgotten that bit from the Christmas story. It’s Luke 1:13, part of what he’d have called the back story, if he’d been a Hollywood screenwriter rather than a physician.

Only two of the gospels tell the story of Christ’s birth. Mark plunges straight into the son of God’s grown-up life: He was writing for a Roman audience and, from their perspective, what’s important is not where Jesus came from but what he did once he got going. But Matthew was writing for the Jews, and so he dwells on Jesus and his parents mainly to connect the king of the Jews with all that had gone before: He starts with a long family tree tracing Joseph’s ancestry back to Abraham.

Like Mark, Luke was writing for a gentile crowd. But, like Matthew, he also dwelt on Jesus’ birth and family. And he begins with the tale of two pregnancies. Before Mary’s virgin birth, he tells the story of her cousin Elisabeth: Zacharias is surprised to discover his impending fatherhood – “for I am an old man and my wife well stricken in years.”

I currently live in Europe and have an American mini-van for the 3 kids. It is quite a sight on the road of tiny cars that are obviously not built for any family larger than 4.

When all of my friends (who happen to be Catholic) show up with their minimum 3 kids at a restaurant, quite a few looks are given to us (not because of noise, that we are just a sight!).

Do you think that the preferred car size makes them wonder where they would put extra kids if they had them? Just wondering…

The bottom line is Europeans just are not up to the hardship and cost of family life, they prefer a life of leisure and freedom. This may be all fun for them now, but what they don’t think of is that they will one day become old and decrepit, and will then need the help of younger more able-bodied folks to survive. Even is Europe becomes a totally socialist welfare state, they will still need young blood to keep its wheels turning.

Other than the EU beginning a campaign to massively increase its birthrate with higher rate of immigration, and very soon, the only other alternative would be to reopen Hitler’s death camps for the elderly or its equivalent. The prospects are very scary to say the least, lets just pray Europe choses the former…:gopray2:

They don’t need to worry. By that time, enough African and Middle Eastern Muslims will have immigrated into Europe that they’ll be well taken care of.

Provided, of course, that they convert to Islam…
