Actually, VDH is a visiting professor at our local college. He recently gave a speech related to his upcoming book on the Peloponesian War. I missed it, but apparently it will broadcast on C-Span in Oct.

He writes for National Review, and is a right-winger politically. He’s a Fellow at the Hoover Institute, well-known for its prominent influence over national Republican policy.

Hanson’s writing reflects that background.

I read Steyn and Hanson regularly, and have read many of Hanson’s historical works.

I personally enjoy both. I look at Styne as primarily an entertainer. VDH is a military historian. He takes the position that if you choose to ignore history, you are bound to repeat it.

VDH’s background is as a farmer in California, and he reflects that in the positions he holds.
