**Hello! Nice to meet you! 😃 What a beautiful gift, 23 years of marriage! **

**What kind of dog do you have? We have a Beagle mix and a German Shepherd mix. šŸ™‚ **
You are right, we do have a wonderful gift to have been married 23 years. God certainly cares for us.

Our dog is a bit of a mystery. SHe may have some pit or rotty in her. We got her from the local SPCA and she lives up to her name of Sweetie!

Family of 2 here. Married for a little over 14 months and God has not sent us any blessings yet. (We had good reasons not to try for the first 11 months) We’ll see what the future holds. But thanks for starting this thread. I needed to be reminded of the importance of living out my vocation as it is NOW. Thanks šŸ™‚
Have we met? šŸ˜‰ Great to see you again. Thanks for stopping by.

Yeah, I need to be reminded constantly of how truly awesome, blessed, holy, and all those other adjectives married love is. Even if we would never be blessed to have children, or if we did have children, and we were back to being alone.

Either way…families of two are AWESOME…and the call of so many in the here and now. We might as well take advantage of this special time, whether its a temporary or permanent call. And, that’s kinda why I started this, to have more people reflect on the beauty of their marriage as a vocation in and of itself, even if children are not, or are no longer present.

**So…in a nutshell…yeah…what you said! šŸ˜› 😃 **

**Our German Shepherd mix is like that too. The German Shepherd is obvious. The rest is a mystery. šŸ˜‰ **

**However, our other dog’s mixing can be traced. As the dogs were ā€œcaught.ā€ She’s a Beagle/Jack Russel Terrior mix. šŸ™‚ **

Hello! šŸ‘‹ We are also a family of two - just us with two kitties. I’m 42 and my DH is 30. We will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary on the 30th of this month, and we are going to England to celebrate with his friends and family.

I was in an invalid relationship (I don’t use the ā€œmā€ word with respect to that situation) for 11 years and was never able to conceive. So DH and I are not trying to control our fertility one way or the other, though so far we have not become pregnant. So, while we are not fretting over it, and are willing to accept God’s will, no matter what it might or might not produce, we are just enjoying our life together, and so very grateful for all the blessings and grace we do have in our life. God is truly good to us, we don’t need children to improve this, though they would certainly be welcome if God feels the need for us to be parents.

In the mean time - we are DINKs, and lovin’ it! 😃

**Hi Liza! I know you can be found pretty much all over CAF. šŸ˜‰ I like your attitude, and need to mimic it myself. I’ve been fretting WAY more than I should about babies, and so, I am trying to realize what a beautiful thing I have (sacramental marriage) even if babies never flow from it. It’s the marriage that’s the sacrament, the vocation. Babies are just a very nice addition to the equation. šŸ™‚ So…glad to have you with us. 😃 **

**BTW: 😊 What is DINKs? Sorry, I don’t have all the forum abbreviations down. **

Another half of a family of two! šŸ‘‹ We’re newlyweds (3.5 months now–woohoo!!! ) with 2 puppies and 1 cat. Oh, and we’re DINKs for the time being…but hoping to become SINKs in timeā€¦šŸ˜‰ Hoping for a little one, but God seems to have a plan for that…so in the meantime, we’re enjoying married life. 😃 And I’m enjoying the extra shopping priviledges of DINK lifeā€¦šŸ˜›

Being a DINK family is kind of nice. DH took a new job last year that bumped up his pay quite a bit. We’ve been able to save up some money and buy a few toys, nothing super expensive, but things that we couldn’t have afforded before. We’re hoping to become parents in the next year, so that will change, but there’s nothing wrong with enjoying where we are now!

We feel the same way - we hardly live an extravagant life, but we are taking some really wonderful trips - to England this year, and Rome next year, but fully realizing that if baby comes along all that stops (well, not England, we are leaving on Friday), and life takes a new direction. And we are absolutely ok with that.

But in the mean time, we tithe more and travel more. šŸ™‚ Oh, and I get to buy more shoes. 😃

~Liza

**Sounds like fun everyone! 😃 **

**We live off of my husband’s entry level salary, so, a little tight (alright a lot a bit ;).) But we still are enjoying the freedom of being able to have a super long honeymoon stage. Nineteen months and counting! 😃 If we had a honeymoon baby, it would be very, very different. Good, but different. I kind of am enjoying this time, and I know hubby is too! šŸ‘ **

We’re in, I think.

We’re (unfortunately) postponing because of what I’ll call ā€œsociofinancialā€ issues. We think it’s important enough to establish ourselves as a one-income household to avoid pregnancy so that none of our children has to be put in daycare. Not that daycare is wrong outright, just wrong for us.

I find myself very dissatisfied with my state in life right now. I hate that the level of sacrifice that seems natural/normal/appropriate to me is not forced upon us while we have two incomes to pay our debts down enough to afford them on just my husband’s salary. I hate being far from my family, I’m unhappy with the area we live in, married life has been a pretty rough and not altogether pleasant adjustment… At least my job is no longer a danger to my life and health, right?

So that’s the short story on one half of our ā€œhappy little familyā€ of two right now. 😦 Sorry to be depressing.

Yes you fit right in!

**Sorry you are unhappy right now. 😦 Maybe it might help to know that we **are in a similar "boat."

**We are living off of one income and paying of debt (college.) I must stay at home due to health issues. We live far from family and do not like where we are living. **

Though we would love too, we cannot afford to adopt children for a long time possibly 10+ years! However, we seemingly cannot conceive one either. My health doesn’t allow for treatments (ie fertility), nor could we really afford them anyhow.

**So pretty similar. It’s not depressing, its just where we are at. 🤷 **

**PM me if you ever want to chat about it. **

My wife of 14 years and I haven’t had children, and it’s an open question whether we ever will. I’m still Protestant (working out a few lingering issues), and my wife’s not remotely open to Catholicism. Neither of us much likes children, but we grit our teeth and try to be charitable & forebearing with the larvae of our siblings, friends, and various in-laws. Got cats, though, and two chihuahuas: a young, silly one, and an umpteen-year-old boy with four teeth, cataracts, and hearing loss (if they made nursing homes for dogs…).

I’ve just moved to Charleston to begin a new job, but my wife’s had to remain in the ATL to help with a family obligation (her mother’s bedridden, and she’s sticking around to spell her father). Pray that God reunites us in SC, and that He has His will w/our future!

It’s just DH and myself going on 10 yrs. in Oct. We can’t have children due to my health isssues that include a severe blood clotting disorder, crohns disease, and recovering from a stroke 2 yrs. ago. I’m on too many meds that can harm a baby so thank God for NFP. My DH told me that he truly loves me inspite of all of my ailments & doesn’t care what I look like…even w/o the makeup or from feeling sick. This man is truly a saint. :angel1:

It use to make me very sad that we couldn’t have a family but God gave us 3 wonderful nieces and 5 wonderful nephews ranging from 1 yr. to 10 yrs. They are a joy to be with & I am truly blessed to have them in our lives. šŸ™‚

I do have a 4 legged child w/fur-- he is a bassett hound, named Ike, that keeps me company while hubby is at work as well as a parakeet(hubby’s pet) that like to imitate Ike’s squeak toy whenever Ike & I are playing with it.

I still have my days where I wish I was ā€œnormalā€ & could do more for us…including p/t work just to help out financially but I can’t. Poor hubby is working OT now just to pay for my all of my treatments &I feel awful about it because he’s extremely tired when he gets home & we don’t spend quality time together like we use to.

I pray each day that my disability case will be heard FINALLY (2 yrs.,1 month & counting) & then he won’t have to work so many hrs. & we can spend time w/each other, including going to mass.

Still, in spite of everything, I count my blessings each night. How can I not?? šŸ‘

Just found this threat, what a great idea šŸ™‚ Hubby and I are almost 5 months married, a family of 2 - with a cat we adopted recently! We are letting the decision to have children fall in God’s hands, though at this moment I think we are BOTH hoping bigtime that we conceive.

We live in a little apartment and off of one income, his. I’m still taking some classes to wrap up my degree and taking care of the home. It’s a difficult adjustment to be a really GOOD housewife, since I’m not a clean person myself and if it were for ME, I wouldn’t clean… but knowing it makes hubby so much more relaxed after working 12 hr days to come home, see things clean, dishes done, clean clothes… that’s the only reason I can do it!

This thread is getting so interesting. There’s so many different types off families out there! šŸ™‚ Thanks Convert for starting this thread and making everyone feel so welcomed.
