Sorry…that should have been “Joseph” Pearce in my last post, not “Josep”.

Well, here I was mentioning Joseph Pearce, while forgetting that Pearce himself is a convert. He used to belong to an extreme British nationalist group and was no stranger to violence…spent some time in prison.

don’t forget John Foster Dulles’ little boy Avery…his middle moniker is now Cardinal 😉

Holy smokes! Nobody mention Gilbert K. Chesterton, the mightest of them all.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas-(Re-vert ?)
Norma “Jane Roe” McCorvey -The Roe in “Roe vs Wade”
St. Edith Stein,
Jacques Maritain,
Dorothy Day,
St. Elizabeth Seton,
Karl Stern,
Ronald Knox
Karl Stern mentioned at Maries list is a very interestening person. He was a highly educated Jew that converted to catholisism in the middle of the WW II.

STOP and THINK: Hitler, a catholic, murderd other jews, when this especially jew found out that catholisism was the New Covenant!

It must been of great cost to him to follow Jesus’ words: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6)

I highly recommend his book “The Pillar ogf Fire” (were he tells about his convertion):

Not to forget, I’m a convert, too (But I am not famous) LOL!

Best wishes to all who seek the Christian Thruth from a former Lutheran, (now catholic)!

Must the famous converts be of inspiration to us “ordinary”.

God Bless!

Before I converted, I was going to a Protestant Bible College. I was actually told be one of my professors that he thought that Rich Mullins died in that car crash because Mullins was about to convert to Catholicism and God didn’t want him to. Can you believe someone actually said that?

Bud Stewart:
Larry Kudlow and Laura Ingram (correct spelling) are both American writers.
If you’re looking for the nationally-syndicated Westwood One talk host, the correct spelling is actually Laura Ingraham.

As far as famous death bead converts I do believe George Washington is one.

And even better yet my wife: Debora Kay McKenzie she is going to help get me into heaven. Even if she has to sneak me in the back door.

Rich Mullins had a HUGE Soft spot for the Catholic church, esp for Mary and the saints…his favorite places were Basicallias, tho he admited to loving the most run down (catholic) churches.
He chose Mass over any other celebration.
His song “Creed” wich is the apostles creed proves it more than anything.
I believe in God the Father almighty
Maker of Heaven and Maker of Earth
And in Jesus Christ
His only begotten Son, our Lord
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
Born of the virgin Mary

Suffered under Pontius Pilate
He was crucified and dead and buried
CHORUS:
And I believe what I believe
Is what makes me what I am
I did not make it, no it is making me
It is the very truth of God and not
The invention of any man
I believe that He who suffered
Was crucified, buried, and dead
He descended into hell and
On the third day, rose again
He ascended into Heaven where
He sits at God’s mighty right hand
I believe that He’s returning to
Judge the quick and the dead
Of the sons of men
I believe it, I believe it
I believe it
I believe it, I believe it
I believe in God the Father almighty
Maker of Heaven and Maker of Earth
And in Jesus Christ His only begotten Son,
Our Lord
I believe in the Holy Spirit
One Holy Church, the communion of Saints
The forgiveness of sin

I believe in the resurrection
I believe in a life that never ends
I believe it, I believe
I believe it, I believe
I believe it, I believe it

The Barrister:
For the record, I’ve never heard of a deathbed conversion to atheism. 🙂
Correct. I’ve never heard of such kind of deathbed “conversion” as well.

Ah, it is far better to believe in a God than not at all.

Gerry 🙂

Lately, the name of Nicolas Steno has emerged as a convert.

ucmp.berkeley.edu/history/steno.html

Considering all the hoopla over science/religion or its antecedent -creationism/evolutionism,it is a reminder to Catholics that we inherited the once noble tradition of the investigation of natural phenomena.

A person reading the life of Steno can get very lonely in matters of scientific concern in our present era.
