Famous large families?

Can anyone name some very successful people who either came from or have large families?
 
Mel Gibson has a brood. Seven children last I heard…Mark Wahlberg came from a family of 14…the Jackson Family had 9 kids…the Osmonds had a bunch…that’s all I can think of for now.
 
Depends on your definition of successful. I imagine there are lots of great priests, bishops, and cardinals who’ve come from large families, not to mention saints!
 
I think that St. Catherine of Sienna was the youngest of 25 children!! (Not all survived).

She certainly was successful.🙂
 
Queen Victoria, although some of her offspring were less than stellar examples of royalty

the kennedy’s again, the jury is still out on that family, but success certainly came to many, but at such a cost.

the Gilbreth’s (original Cheaper by the Dozen) all went to college and most had successful professional careers

at six kids, we had one of the smaller families in my parochial school, but we had one of the highest college acceptance and college graduation rate for our HS students in our diocese. In addition to many priests and religious (one now a bishop, one a mother superior) in my graduating class we had a future city council member, US representative, state senator, several lawyers and judges, school principals, college president, several entrepeneurs, best-selling author, TV network manager, and a movie star. I don’t know how you define success.

I think it was 13 kids? Not for sure on that number.

I think George Foreman has 8?
 
Mary Higgins Clark has 5 children and 4 step children.

The reason I asked this question is on another forum it has been said that nobody with an education has large families anymore.
 
Justice Antonin Scalia has nine children, one of whom is a Priest in VA.

And aren’t they all named George?

There’s a southern governor (or ex, at this point), that had adopted a ton of kids, I think a dozen.
 
The Empress Maria Theresa of Austria had about 17 children. Marie Antonette was one of her children.

I think the last Hapsburg empress had 8 children, some of whom are still living.

Queen Anne of England had 16-18 children. She survived all of them.

Queen Victoria had 9 children.

Margaret Sanger came from a large family. She was unhappy growing up which probably contributed to what she became successful at!! —KCT
 
St. Therese (the Little Flower) was the youngest of 9 children, and I think 5 of them became nuns.

I thought there were just 5 girls altogether, at least that’s what the movie insinuated!

I thought only 5 of the 9 survived to adulthood; from somewhere I read.

I have a master’s degree and 9 children. Maybe if I go for the Ph.D., I’ll have a few more! 😃
