Hi guy! (for some shaving product, the neighbor in the next apartment talking through the medicine cabinet)

Don’t wait to be told…you need Palmolive Gold.

Snap! Crackle! Pop! Rice Krispies…

When I grow up, I want to be a Mommie
(Betsy Wetsy)

Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids!

Oh Chatty Cathy, oh Chatty Cathy
Mattel’s famous talking doll
We pull the ring
And you say eleven different things.

Dig 'em! (A breakfast cereal, can’t remember which, had a bullfrog for a mascot)

The lovin’ spoonful, what a way to greet the morn! (Kellogg’s Corn Flakes)

They’re after me Lucky Charms!

Can’t get enough of the Sugar Crisp!

I remember seeing a commerical for the Rosary on EWTN. It was so cheesy, I laughed. And the dad was the best character in the commerical too.

sister walks into brother’s room, he’s on his laptop]

Sister: Let’s pray the Rosary.

mom suddenly appears behind her

Mom: That sounds like a great idea!

dad comes in

Brother: I don’t really feel like praying now–

dad glares at his son

Brother: On second thought, I will pray the Rosary.

“Can I have a glass of water please? Thanks. I need five waters.”
Sound of kids laughing
“What’s going on here?”
“It’s a happy Fizzies party!”

“It tastes better. Brown’s Chicken! It tastes better. Brown’s Chicken!”

“How many licks does it take to get the inside of a Tootsieroll Pop? Let’s find out. 1. 2. 3. CRUNCH. 3”
How many licks does it take to get to the inside of a Tootsieroll Pop? The world may never know.

Just thought I would derail for a second…back in the seventies I had a doll, I think her name was Mimi, who sang this song in various languages. She had this mini record player embedded in her back, and mini records for each version of the song. She also had a cool “mod” outfit with boots and a beret. Thanks for having me remember her.🙂
Was she the one that you could change the eye color, too? She could have green eyes, gray eyes, blue eyes or violet eyes. But not brown. 😦

Thought of some others…

“Kentucky Fried Chicken, we do chicken right!”

“There’s a lot of good things under our roof” (Pizza Hut)

“For pizza out, it’s Pizza Inn”

“Godfather’s Pizza, the pizza you can’t refuse!”

One more pizza one:

“Pizza! Pizza!” (Little Caesar’s)

here’s another TicTac commercial:

“Put a TicTac in your mouth and get a
BANG
out of life,
It’s a clean fresh explosion of mint”
(sung by two middle-aged ladies sitting under hair dryers at a beauty salon)

“Salon perm? No! Ogilvie Home Perm!”

“You’re in good hands with Allstate.”

“What’s in YOUR wallet?” (I think it’s Capital One credit cards)

“Taste the high country” (Coors beer)

“A&W Root Beer’s got that frosty mug taste!”

“It’s gonna be a great day!” (Kellogg’s cereals)

“Follow your nose!” (Froot Loops)

“Two scoops!” (Kellogg’s Raisin Bran)

“Roaches check in, but they don’t check out! (evil laugh)” (for roach hotels, from Raid, I think)

“RAID!!!” (explosion)

Oh, here’s a local one from the El Paso area, circa late '80s:

One of the Nissan dealerships, Horn Nissan, had the owner, “Crazy Ray” tout his vehicles in a loud, obnoxious voice that just set your teeth on edge…

“Crazy Ray from HORN Nissan!..”

But the worse part was the end of the commercial after he’d give the address, he’d say in a sing-song voice:

“Open Sunday after CHUR-RCH!”

They finally stopped this aggravating ad campaign after the guy actually received DEATH THREATS from people who couldn’t stand his tag line. He was annoying (we always scrambled for the remote whenever one of those commercials came on) but death threats?

Two more local ones from the El Paso area:

(This one will be censored, I know. Just subsitute the offending nickname for the name “Richard”. It’s from a Chrysler dealership and the same ad campaign has been running for almost 30 years!)

“Hi, folks! I’m “Richard” Poe!”
“Hi, “Richard”!”

And from Popular Mattress company:

“Thank you very much y muchas gracias!”

Here’s one that you’ll wish you could forget…48 hours from now when you’re STILL singing it (sort of like ‘It’s a Small World’…)

I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to buy the world a Coke
And keep it company.

It’s the real thing (coke is…)
That’s the way it should be (coca cola…)
What the world wants to see (wo-yeah…)
Is the real thing.
Did you know you can sing “Amazing Grace” to this tune ?

Kathy

Sometimes you feel like a nut. . .
sometimes you don’t. . .
Almond Joy’s got nuts. . .

And of course let’s not forget Barry doing,
You deserve a break today at McDonalds (we do it all for you). . .

Hop on a bus and leave the driving to us. . .(Greyhound)

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons doing “Let’s Hang on” for I think it was Wrigley or Doublemint gum. . .

"Let’s all go to A and W,
Food’s more fun at A and W,
We’ll have a mug of root beer
Or maybe two or three
The food’s just great and what variety!
So let’s all go to A and W,
I can taste it now, can’t you?
Hop in the car
(hop in the car)
Come as you are
(come as you are)
To A and W!

Who wears short shorts
We wear short shorts
If you dare wear short shorts
Nair for short shorts. . .

It’s not NICE to fool Mother Nature (CRASH! FLASH! ZAP!)

We’re going to have a Fizzie party! That brings back memories!

Sometimes you feel like a nut. . .
sometimes you don’t. . .
Almond Joy’s got nuts. . .
Mounds don’t . . .because

Sometimes you feel like a nut. .
Sometimes you don’t!
"Almond Joy’s got rich milk chocolate
Coconut and munchy nuts, too

Mound’s got deep dark chocolate
and chewy coconut… OOOOO…"

Anyone remember the car commercial – I think it was Kia – with the crazy Cajun guy who looked a bit like Dabney Coleman? At one point he holds up a small gator and says, “Tastes just like chicken!”

Found some vintage commercials on yahoo video
you all might enjoy, link below.

There’s Ronald Reagan for Boraxo, Mike Wallace for Golden Fluffo shortening and a little commercial about the majority of doctors preferring to smoke Camels over any other cigarette (I had a vintage magazine advertisement of that hanging in my kitchen for ages.)

Interesting! For some of us, a walk down memory lane, too!

Ooh! Ooh! One of those is the old Hamm’s Beer commercial, “From the land of sparkling waters…”
I loved that commercial when I was about 5.

Was she the one that you could change the eye color, too? She could have green eyes, gray eyes, blue eyes or violet eyes. But not brown. 😦
I don’t remember that feature. She was blonde, though with bangs. Her outfit and beret were in various shades of burgundy and purple.

“Call . . . for . . . Phillip Morris!”

“So round, so firm, so fully packed.”

“I’d walk a mile for a Camel.”

There was one for Lucky Strike, too, but I can’t remember it.
