Today on NPR I learned that Spike Jones is going to make a purportedly journalistic film that will show that the Federal government blew up the levees to deliberately flood the lower Ninth Ward and force out poor black people from New Orleans. Tonight on Fox News Farrakhan is repeating the same thing. I have never heard such absolute drecht in all my life.

First, the lower Ninth Ward flooded during Hurricane Betsy in 1965. It was a middle class white and black neighborhood. I went to high school with guys from the Ninth Ward - they were blue collar. In 1967 my high school was integrated - guess where the first black guys came from - lower Ninth Ward, black middle class. Two, the break in the levee of the 17th St. Canal flooded Lakeview - Lakeview where all the upper class white people lived. And let’s not forget that the flood waters went all the way up into Uptown New Orleans where both white and black people lived.

Fox News analyst Neil Cavuto interviewed Farrkhan who said that a UFO came down and gave him a vision. I would like to take both Farrakhan and Jones and bonk the their two heads together. Maybe the shock would put some sense into their heads. Both of them are obviously out there in “cloud cuckoo land”. But it boils my blood to even think about them saying that our governement blew up the levees. The 1927 flood on the MISSISSIPPI needs to be viewed in context - HISTORIC not X-Files.

There is a rumour that this film is being shot in Area 51, but Jones is neither confirming nor denying it.

Yes, we have no bananas.

I think they meant Spike Lee.
