There is a way of using a negative influence in a positive way. Fr. Barron seems not to use negative in any way and all things seem to be positive. It seems to me that from Fr. Barron I get only half the story and am left looking for the reality of the situation that he is discussing.
When it comes to cause and effect we have a tendency to discuss the effects rather than the causes. Causes are often negative and we must work to make it into a positive. Again it is the effect and not the cause that I seem to relate to what Fr, Barron offers. I often ask, what is the teaching… Where’s The Beef?
I’m reading Fr. Brian Mullady’s new book “Both a Servant and Free”, soon to be a series on EWTN, and this seems to be where the “beef” of Catholic thought is. It certainly requires more thought and study than offering the positive of Bob Dylan or Keith Richards.

Hello Earnest Bunbury,
I see what you mean. Yet, Fr. Barron dishes out plenty of beef. He just doesn’t serve it with every meal, I guess, and his target audience is those who are not fully active Catholics. People in that state can not yet survive on solid food. He thinks his approach is best and his reasoning is sound, I think. He also has been rather successful using his approach.
By the way, given the topic at hand, I find it interesting that you have a quote from Oscar Wilde as your signature.
