“Bishop Choby offered Father Breen the choice of retracting and apologizing for his statements or face the process set forth for the removal of a pastor under canon law when a ministry becomes harmful or ineffective.”

I’ve read this, I often wonder how anyone in his position reachs the point of being so sure about there thinking, when in such strong contradiction to history, that they go as far as voicing an opinion publicly?

There are people in the Church intent on changing it. Fr Breen wants married clergy, the Jesuit parish in New York promotes the gay lifestyle, Cardinal Mahony in LA seems comfortable with liturgical dancing. There are groups such as Call To Action and pro-abortionists. Our duty as faithful Catholics is to protect the faith and attempt to correct the misguided through charity and patience.

Praying for Bishop Choby and the people of Fr. Breen’s parish. They have a lot of work to do. This must have been very hard but it is sad that Fr.Breen didn’t get the message back in 1993. 😦

I am really tired of this behavior from liberal Priests.

I would gladly support a zero tolerance policy for priests. Fully support the CC’s teaching or be removed. No excuses

Why in the world would you need to give a Priest a written document prohibiting him from speaking in opposition of official CC teaching?

This is also an example of the weakness and ineptness of some Bishops.

I feel so sorry for the many many good priests who faithfully lead their flocks, and have to be counted with these nuts

the danger is that we dont know what is in the hearts of these unfaithful people. they can apologize but it does not mean they will change their views. they can just go on quietly but continue on their journey of destruction.

Fr Breen’s parish (St Edward) provides a link to their Sunday Mass. Based on his video it should come as no surprise that liberties are taken with the liturgy. On the August 1, 2010 Mass among other things a woman came out of the congregation to preach the sermon and there appears to be a female deacon. Among other things: orans posture during the Our Father, unsacred vessels, “Happy Birthday” to the choir leader followed by applause. By their fruits you shall know them.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but the priesthood is seen at the level of marriage and for the Church to be unforgiving in a circumstance that did not deeply and immediately affect his parishioners as in a case of sexual misconduct. An organization built upon forgiveness cannot be unforgiving in these types of circumstances. I do agree that liberal priests do need dealt with more quickly though they still need a chance to correct their deficiencies.

Of course he can and should be forgiven. My contention is that there should be severe consequences for misleading your flock in full rejection of the CC’s teaching. Like the hospital nun who was excommunicated for allowing an abortion recently

The Bishops messed up big time with the priest sex scandal, and I’m tired of their lack of firm leadership with dissident priests, like this nutjob Fr Phleggler (sp?) in Chicago - a true embarassment to the CC and priesthood. They should ALL be on the same page - the truth of the CC’s reaching

Good for you, Bishop Choby! We follow the Magisterial teachings, no ifs, ands or buts…

A provincial priest went to visit an anchorite to offer the Eucharist for him. Now someone went to the anchorite and spoke against the priest, so when the latter came according to custom to give him communion, the anchorite, who had been shocked, did not let him in, and the priest went away. Then, behold, a voice came to the anchorite, saying, “Men have taken jugdment away from me.” The anchorite was as though in ecstasy, and he saw a well of gold and a rope of gold and a jug of gold and much water of surpassing quality. Then he saw a leper draw the water and pour it out, and he would gladly have drunk but could not because he who drew the water was leprous. Again a voice came to him saying, “Why do you not drink the water? What does it matter if he who draws it is leperous? he only draws it and pours it out.” Returning to himself and perceiving the meaning of the vision, the anchorite sent for the priest and let him give him communion as usual.

As of June 23 2013 nothing has changed

Or may be worse. Deaconess gave the homily. Implicit progressive agenda.
More like a service not a sacred Mass. Distracting chit chat throughout
Sad to see so many accepting the error.
