Yes, Ms. McCarthy was so straight laced and Lady Felicia a bit more morally flexible that it made it interesting and real.

Lady Felicia was more than “a bit more morally flexible.” She had a rendezvous with one of the murder suspects in the previous season, and one has to assume it involved sex. The assumption I made was that she confessed her sin, or Father Brown wouldn’t have let her into his inner sanctum, so to speak.

I had grown to really like the interaction of Ms. McCarthy and Lady Felicia.

I’m on season four. Spoiler alert! Does the detective from season four grow on you? We had grown to like the detective from season two and three. The new guy is a little gruff and not as fun.

I am on Season 4 also I just realized. There were two seasons with Valentine and one with Sullivan and now this one. I don’t know his name. I like how he calls Father B padre. He is gruff, but he is okay.
Sullivan was all right but I liked Valentine.

Sid is so funny!

I was surprised to see Mrs. McCarthy smoking in one dinner scene because she is so straightlaced. The cigarette was in one of those long holders. They were sitting at a long table honoring veterans.

She was impersonating the wife of a count or something in that episode. She doesn’t smoke. I saw a young Sorcha Cusack in a Morse episode this winter. My PBS station was broadcasting a Morse season because there were not any current UK dramas for them to broadcast.

Yes, morally flexible doesn’t really capture it all. She seems to have been a serial adulteress.
 
The only actor who I can’t believe in the role is Flambeau. In the book he’s a gigantic man, maybe 6’4" to Fr Brown’s 5’6" (just guessing) – very acrobatic and muscular. Also a warm hearted person, with a sense of humor. The actor doesn’t seem right for the part, sadly.
But Fr Brown and the detectives seem spot on.

Since I haven’t read the books I can’t say.

I just finished Season 4 and will be beginning Season 5 today.

I think I should take my time if this is the last season on Netflix. So is Season 6 on
TV now?

I have to admit I find the plots very trite, but I enjoy the interactions of my favorite characters as they solve the murders. Sometimes the acting a little too overdramatic
for me - meaning the actors playing the suspects and other minor characters.

I think the Inspector’s name from Season 4 was Mallory. I thought he was very good.
I hope he will be in Season 5 too.

I don’t believe so. She was just Mrs. McCarthy. I had replayed the scene to see if I had seen right.

Sorcha is very good in her role.

I believe it was season 2 but I don’t remember which episode. I had wondered if she had thought she was not in the shot and it was very brief. As I said it was a scene and there were about 40 people seated around a long long table or many tables. It was a formal dinner and it had to do with military.

Could it be Season 3’s ‘The Sign of the Broken Sword’? They are on an army base and there is a famous sword involved in a murder.

I agree. The TV Flambeau seems a little too cold. He seems maybe more intentionally evil than the picture I get from the stories.

Come to think of it, wasn’t Father Brown described in the stories as diminutive and unassuming? Unlike the actor who plays him on the television series who looks to be something of a giant. Well, I guess it wouldn’t be the first time something like this has happened.
