His grandmother was a doctor who delivered him at home. When he was born they were sure he was dead and they put him in basin under a bed for burial. But something, God he thinks, told the midwife to pull the basin out and hold him, and he started making noises. “Father Charley said God gave him his life so in return he gave God his life.”
