Father Jonathan Morris: “I’ve discerned I’m not called to dedicate my priesthood to the “profound revision”, “purification”, and “redefinition” of the Legion of Christ the Holy Father has wisely ordered. Archbishop Dolan has invited me to start the Incardination process into the Archdiocese of New York. I won’t have further comments at this time.”

Presently, Father Morris is assigned as the parochial vicar of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral as well as being a Fox News Contributor and best selling author. He was ordained into the Legion of Christ religious congregation in 2002.

If Father Morris announced his decision to say “No” to the Holy Father on facebook …
how dreadfully odd of him to do so. Facebook? Facebook???

Father Morris is not saying “NO” to the Holy Father. In fact, he appears to be in agreement of the Pope’s action to place the Legion of Christ under direct Vatican control.

Because of the highly publicized problems with the Legion of Christ, instead of continuing to have to defend his problematic congregation, he has accepted Archbishop Dolan’s offer to leave his order and become a diocesan priest (or at least he is starting this process).🙂

Gotcha. So it’s about his decision to leave the Legionaires?
Still, how odd to announce that decision through facebook.

It must have been a very difficult decision for him and he must’ve felt his ministry was more suited for the diocese. God Bless him, and all our priest in finding the best way to shepherd the Lord’s flock!

Amen to that!

Where ever Fr. Jonathan goes it will be a blessing for that place. He is a wonderful priest and I will keep him in my prayers. I admire and respect his decision. As for putting that information on facebook…welcome to the new technology. Many religious are now using facebook. It is a great way to keep in touch with the faithful.

He needs our prayers, he is a high-profile priest who has done very well at representnig orthodox Catholic teachings on Fox News and other media. We know how much attack high profile priests (and all priests) are under.

Catharina: This is the 21st Century! You need to get “hip” with all these social networking sites. {I did and I’m almost 60.} There’s a bunch of RC organizations and RC’s on Facebook.

Check this one out: facebook.com/#!/pages/Vatican-City/The-Vatican/47357585681?v=wall&ref=search 👍
Bah humbug! And to the devil with the 21st century.
Making an announcement like this on Facebook is just plain RUDE.

What kind of social network is it when you have scores or hundreds of “friends” you have never met? When you ignore real-life people so you can chat with strangers?

Yes, I’m on Facebook, specifically so I could join a couple of the RC orgs you mentioned but I created an e-mail just for the purpose so FB couldn’t go digging thru my address book.
