In August I posted a review in our RC Right To Life blog on Father Thomas Euteneuer’s powerful book Demonic Abortion. Yesterday someone posted a comment about praying for Father Euteneuer after his being recalled from Human Life International and relegated to parish duty in FL.
Goggle brought up couple of blog posts that reported that Father E had been recalled in August by Bishop Gerald Barbarito. Searching CAF brought up nothing (though my searches here never seem to retrieve much).
Demonic Abortion and Exorcism And The Church Militant, the companion book, have been pulled from the HLI store and apparently from publication all together (used on Amazon are going for steep prices).
Father Euteneuer is one our pro-life heroes - very personable, yet plain spoken and thoroughly faithful to the Magisterium. Exactly the kind of priest I would think the faithful need to hear from if the Bishops seriously expect to bring dissident Catholics back into conformity with Church teaching on abortion.
Father E has also been quite outspoken about pro-abortion Catholics in government (particularly Pelosi and Sebelius), homosexual marriage, Aids, and “new age” thinking. I thought we were all supposed to be doing that. I suspect that might be the real problem combined with the blunt, though thoroughly accurate, phrase Demonic Abortion.
I did find a rather pro-forma farewell Father Euteneuer posted on HLI which referred to obedience and perhaps he was due for a renewal anyway. He didn’t seem like a man who wanted to hang up his pro-life mission and hear confessions on Saturday.
Anyone know what exactly what happened?
